Activities in response to the National Book and Reading Culture Day in Nui Thanh district took place at the District Cultural and Sports Center and the Information and Communication Center, attracting hundreds of participants.

The district launched a competition to promote and introduce books for all students in primary, secondary, and high schools in the area. Simultaneously, it organized a "Painting Based on Books" competition with the theme "Nui Thanh Homeland Through Books" for students in primary and secondary schools.

Within the center's premises, students are issued free library cards and can read books on-site at display counters featuring hundreds of titles from the FAHASA Quang Nam branch of the bookstore.

A student from Tran Quoc Toan Primary School (Nui Thanh town) said: “In the past few days, the Quang Nam Library has brought mobile book services to our schools. Now, participating in activities at the center, we can borrow and read many good and beautiful books on the spot. Book Day with its diverse activities helps us become more aware of the importance of reading and acquiring knowledge to improve our studies.”

In particular, the meet-and-greet program with academic memory record holder Duong Anh Vu was packed with audience members. Duong Anh Vu moved listeners to tears and laughter with his heartfelt stories about his childhood, his educational journey, and his passion for reading.

He recounted his difficult childhood, arduous studies, and numerous failed attempts at exams. Yet, with unwavering determination, he persevered in his education, even if it meant attending supplementary programs.

Ultimately, he succeeded, receiving numerous scholarships to study abroad, reaching the pinnacle of academic achievement, and moreover, becoming a record holder with many world academic records.

I advise you not to give up. Choose a path that suits you, with goals that are not too far-fetched, and with all your perseverance and thirst for knowledge, you will surely achieve success. Books are an important tool for you to learn well, acquire knowledge, and are also a method for lifelong learning.”

According to Nguyen Chi Dan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nui Thanh District, the Nui Thanh District People's Committee organized the 2024 Book and Reading Culture Day to encourage and develop the reading movement in the community, contributing to the formation of reading habits in families, schools, agencies, and organizations; and contributing to building a learning society.

Through this, we honor readers, authors, publishers, printers, distributors, libraries, archivers, collectors, and promoters of books, as well as organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of reading culture in the locality…
