According to ancient documents, the Thai people in Lang Chanh have been settled there for a long time, originating from the Northwest region and from Laos. Currently, the Thai people mainly live in the communes of Yen Khuong, Yen Thang, Lam Phu, Tri Nang, Tam Van, and Tan Phuc, and still preserve many traditional stilt houses.

The traditional stilt houses of the Thai ethnic group have a flexible structure and are easily recognizable by their tortoise-shell-shaped roofs, with unique details that help them withstand floods and wild animals. Today, stilt houses are not only common living spaces for families but also venues for cultural and religious activities.

The traditional brocade weaving craft of the Thai people in Lang Chanh has been preserved and developed through many generations. Thanks to this, traditional costumes and household items made from brocade are still present in daily life, becoming a distinctive cultural feature of the Thai people. Not only preserving tangible cultural values, the Thai people in Lang Chanh also maintain and promote unique intangible cultural heritage such as gong and drum performances, folk songs, folk dances, and traditional dances. These cultural aspects not only reflect the rich spiritual life of the people but also contribute to enriching the traditional cultural treasure of the ethnic group.

According to Trinh Duc Hung, Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Lang Chanh District: Lang Chanh District has implemented many policies and solutions to preserve and promote ethnic cultural values associated with community tourism development. The District Party Committee has issued a thematic resolution on "Developing tourism associated with preserving and promoting ethnic cultural identity values in the period 2021-2025, with orientation to 2030". The district has also intensified propaganda efforts to raise awareness among officials and the people about preserving and promoting distinctive cultural features associated with tourism development. At the same time, the district encourages localities to actively organize cultural and sports exchange activities, especially traditional dances such as bamboo pole dancing, field-beating, gong playing, and folk games like crossbow shooting, throwing the ball, and stick pushing. The district also restores and regularly maintains traditional festivals such as the Chi Linh Son Festival and the Cha Mun Festival of the Thai ethnic group in Yen Thang commune. Notably, in August 2024, the Cha Mun Festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. This creates favorable conditions for the district to preserve and promote traditional cultural values associated with tourism development.
