Arriving at the largest marigold garden in Tien Hung commune, we felt like we had stepped into a world overflowing with vibrant colors, where rows of bright yellow, red, pink, purple, and orange flowers stretched endlessly under the warm spring sunshine. The creator of this radiant spring scene is Mr. Nguyen Duc Thao from Quan Thon village – the owner of the 2,600m² marigold garden. Mr. Thao shared: “Marigolds possess an elegant appearance and symbolize good fortune and wealth for the homeowner, so this year I invested in planting 45,000 plants of various colors to supply the Tet flower market. I bought the seedlings from a reputable source, planted them around September, ensuring sufficient sunlight for growth, pruned the branches and leaves, and cared for them using the correct techniques and timing. More than a month before Tet, customers had already ordered the entire garden at a price of 18,000 - 20,000 VND per plant.”

Besides the marigolds, the 1,000 money tree plants and 1,000 camellia pots that Mr. Thao's family has meticulously cared for are also at their peak beauty and ready for sale. It is expected that his family will earn a profit of approximately 1.2 billion VND from this Tet flower season. In addition to Mr. Thao's garden, other garden owners in Tien Hung commune are expected to supply the Tet flower market with 700,000 to 800,000 high-quality marigolds.
In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), hundreds of peach blossom growers in the villages of Dinh Phung, Hoang Duc, Hung Son, and Quan Thon are busy tending to their trees to ensure they bloom at the right time and last a long time. This year, the heavy rains in July were unfavorable for the peach trees' growth, but the growers here, with decades of experience, have overcome the challenges in time, and over 60 hectares of peach trees are still blooming beautifully. Mr. Dinh Ba Loi, from Dinh Phung village, has focused on adjusting the nutrition and humidity of his peach orchard for Tet; combining pruning and shaping to define the trees' forms; girdling the trunks to inhibit growth; and stripping leaves in three stages, finishing before November 15th (lunar calendar), to help the trees concentrate on nourishing the buds. He also closely monitors weather developments to adjust the peach blossoms to bloom at the right time, with large petals, ensuring a successful harvest. With these techniques, almost all of Mr. Loi's family's over 400 peach trees have been pre-ordered by customers at prices starting from 1 million VND per tree. Boldly switching from rice cultivation to peach tree farming not only beautifies the landscape but also enriches the orchard owners here, as the income from growing peach trees for Tet (Lunar New Year) is 10-15 times higher than rice cultivation.

Ornamental kumquat trees are an indispensable choice for many families during Tet (Lunar New Year), symbolizing good fortune, wealth, prosperity, and health. Therefore, many farmers in Tien Hung commune choose them as a replacement for rice cultivation. Gardeners always strive to create unique and unusual kumquat tree designs so that customers can purchase them to decorate their homes according to their preferences. As Tet approaches, the flower and ornamental plant gardens in Tien Hung commune become increasingly bustling with visitors from provinces and cities who come to admire the vibrant colors and fragrances of the flowers, select and purchase them, and then transport them to other places to sell to people celebrating Tet.
Tien Hung commune boasts the largest total area of flower, ornamental plant, and seedling cultivation in the province, with 200 hectares. Of this, over 120 hectares are dedicated to growing flowers and ornamental plants for the Lunar New Year. Garden owners actively apply scientific and technological advancements to production, such as growing flowers in greenhouses and polytunnels; using automated irrigation systems (drip and sprinkler); and controlling temperature, humidity, and light to reduce costs and produce high-quality products. In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the commune arranges for the gathering of flowers and ornamental plants at the sports field and cultural center, equipped with lighting and security personnel, for garden owners to transport their produce to customers for distribution. The distinctive agricultural products and strengths of Tien Hung commune are flowers, ornamental plants, and seedlings.

As spring arrives, countless flowers bloom in the gardens of Tien Hung, their fragrance carried far and wide by the wind. Flower growers rejoice and take pride in their profession, as gardening not only provides their families with a comfortable life but also contributes to beautifying their homes with the vibrant colors of spring.
