According to SamMobile, Samsung has surprised the tech community by releasing the stable One UI 8.5 update widely. This update is available on many devices across different price segments, a departure from the previous phased rollout. Users can therefore access the update sooner than expected.
Previously, Samsung typically employed a rolling update strategy for its Galaxy devices. Flagship lines like the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z would be prioritized first, before expanding to mid-range and budget lines such as the Galaxy A, M, or F series. This approach often resulted in long waiting times for many users.

Typically, the South Korean market is the first to receive updates. Other regions have to wait a certain amount of time for the rollout. However, with One UI 8.5, Samsung seems to have changed its approach. The company is accelerating the global rollout.
According to reports, the stable version of One UI 8.5 began rolling out on May 6th. The first devices to receive it were the Galaxy S26 series in the Korean market. Just a few days later, the update was extended to other high-end flagship models. This shows that the rollout speed is being significantly accelerated.
By May 11th, One UI 8.5 had been released globally. High-end devices like the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series were among those prioritized for the update. This is a much faster rollout than Samsung's usual cycle, allowing flagship users to experience it sooner than expected.
According to the old schedule, mid-range and older devices would have had to wait longer. However, this time Samsung has significantly shortened the update gap. Many Galaxy A and Galaxy M series models have appeared on the upgrade list early. This has surprised the user community.

Notably, on May 18th, Samsung simultaneously activated the update for a wide range of devices globally. This list includes both high-end and mid-range devices. The rollout occurred much earlier than the usual annual schedule. This is considered a major shift in the company's software strategy.
Several prominent devices have received the update, including the Galaxy Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and the Galaxy S24 series. Additionally, the Galaxy S23 and S23 FE are also on the support list. In the mid-range segment, the Galaxy A56 and A36 have also begun receiving the update. This rollout is quite extensive compared to previous versions.
Users can check for updates by going to Settings on their device, then selecting Software Update and tapping Download and Install. If the device is on the supported list, One UI 8.5 will appear for upgrading. This makes it easy for users to access the latest version.
