Thanks to the efforts of businesses, cooperatives, and producers, along with the support of relevant agencies, OCOP products in Can Loc ( Ha Tinh province ) are gradually expanding their reach and markets.
Grade 1 crispy oranges from Tra Son Cooperative, Thuong Loc commune, are currently selling for 150,000 VND/kg.
These days, orange growers at the Tra Son Cooperative in Thuong Loc commune are making the most of their time, mobilizing manpower to harvest oranges for customers and traders.
The fact that the cooperative's crispy oranges were re-recognized as a 4-star OCOP product by the Can Loc District OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council in early 2024 has become a major event, creating motivation for cooperative members in production, expanding consumption markets, and increasing income. Accordingly, in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, the price of the cooperative's crispy oranges has increased significantly, from 70,000 VND/kg at the beginning of the season to 150,000 VND/kg for grade 1 oranges.
The area planted with crisp oranges in Thuong Loc is expanding.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoa, Director of Tra Son Cooperative, said: "Identifying OCOP certification as an opportunity for us to affirm our brand and elevate our products, the cooperative has been developing OCOP products since 2019, and by early 2020, we were recognized as achieving 4-star OCOP certification."
To date, after three years, we have continued to strengthen and maintain that brand. Currently, the cooperative's crispy oranges are increasingly favored and accepted by customers nationwide, which is also the motivation for us to plan to expand the cooperative's crispy orange cultivation area in the near future.”
Hoai Vo's pork sausage was also recognized as meeting OCOP standards in early 2024.
For more than a month now, especially in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the Hoai Vo fermented pork sausage and pork roll production facility in Phuc Loc village, Kim Song Truong commune, has had to increase its workforce and working hours to meet customer demand.
Ms. Vo Thi Hoai, the owner of the establishment, shared: “During this period, consumption has doubled compared to before, with an estimated 400 kg of various types of meat used daily to make pork sausage, fermented pork rolls, and beef sausage. Thanks to this, in addition to improving the family's income, the establishment has also created jobs for 7 workers with a significant income during Tet.”
The fact that Hoai Vo's fermented pork sausage and pork roll products have built a brand and gained customer trust and acceptance is the result of the owner's efforts in the production and business process. Starting from the days when she was struggling to find extra work to help stabilize her life, Ms. Hoai chose to produce pork rolls and fermented pork rolls to take advantage of the readily available raw materials in her hometown.
The idea of developing OCOP products to build customer trust and create a sustainable market for products was also conceived by Ms. Hoai from the early days of her business. In early 2023, Hoai Vo's fermented pork sausage achieved OCOP 3-star certification and won third prize in the "Women's Entrepreneurship Ideas" competition organized by the Ha Tinh Women's Union. In January 2024, Hoai Vo's pork sausage was also recognized as achieving OCOP 3-star certification.
Quoc Thach incense products from Quang Loc commune were recognized as 3-star OCOP products in the first phase of 2024.
Along with crispy oranges, pork sausage, fermented pork rolls, etc., in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), OCOP products in Can Loc district such as Hanh Toan peanut brittle (Nghen town), An An clean incense (Tung Loc commune), Quoc Thach agarwood incense (Quang Loc commune), Dong An nutritional seasoning powder and Dong An nutritional broth concentrate (My Loc commune)... have also had more opportunities to expand their market and increase their income.
Furthermore, thanks to the efforts of businesses, cooperatives, and producers, the Can Loc district has supported and promoted OCOP products to keep pace with the market and reach consumers through various channels such as e-commerce platforms, websites, social networks, linking OCOP products with tourist attractions, and expanding the number of product introduction and sales points.
To date, Can Loc has 23 products recognized as 3-star OCOP products. In reality, OCOP products have made significant contributions to fulfilling the criteria for rural economic development, improving people's lives in building advanced and model new rural areas, and affirming the prestige and brand of the OCOP program.
