On October 7th, news from Thanh Vu Medic General Hospital in Bac Lieu reported that a doctor from the hospital had successfully assisted a woman in giving birth at home.
Specifically, at around 12:55 PM on October 6th, Dr. Le Hoang Khai, Head of the Pediatrics Department (Thanh Vu Medic General Hospital, Bac Lieu), was preparing to leave home for work when he heard a neighbor's cry for help: "Doctor, my wife has given birth prematurely!"

Immediately, Doctor Khai put on his medical gloves and quickly ran to the house of pregnant woman M. (43 years old, residing on Tran Huynh Street, Bac Lieu Ward, Ca Mau), about 20 meters from Doctor Khai's house.
Here, the situation was extremely critical: the 3.1 kg baby boy was almost born prematurely, he wasn't breathing, and his mouth was full of amniotic fluid.
With the experience and reflexes of a pediatrician, Dr. Khai quickly delivered the baby, cleared the airway, stimulated and warmed the baby. Just seconds later, the baby let out a loud cry, and the whole family erupted in joy. Afterwards, the mother and baby were taken by family members to Thanh Vu Medic General Hospital in Bac Lieu for further monitoring.
Currently, both mother and baby are in stable condition and are expected to be discharged from the hospital in the next few days.
According to Dr. Khai, situations involving childbirth outside of medical facilities pose many risks, endangering both mother and newborn, such as respiratory failure, postpartum hemorrhage, asphyxia after birth, and infection. Therefore, pregnant women need to have regular prenatal checkups, closely monitor their due date, and go to the hospital early when signs of labor appear so that they can receive timely support from the medical team.
