Gia Lai province strongly implemented the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", with many creative and practical ways.
From remote villages and hamlets to residential groups, the movement not only contributes to beautifying the landscape and improving the quality of life, but also arouses the spirit of solidarity, community awareness and cultural pride of the people.
Movements from the grassroots
According to Decision No. 938/QD-UBND of the People's Committee of Gia Lai province on the plan to implement the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" for the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030; the goal of the plan is to build a healthy cultural environment, improve people's spiritual life, and promote the role of the community as the subject in preserving and developing culture.
The plan also emphasizes the completion of the system of cultural and sports institutions and facilities, improving the quality of cultural titles, implementing village and community conventions, organizing festivals in accordance with regulations, and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.
The province focuses on building culturally standard enterprises associated with sustainable development, taking care of workers' lives, promoting the role of mass organizations in building "Cultural families" and "Families of 5 no's and 3 clean's".
To implement the above plan, Ia Nueng village, Bien Ho commune has renovated the communal house grounds, planted more trees, placed stone benches to organize brocade weaving, gong, xoang clubs, hold meetings and provide a place for people to participate in community activities.
Ia Nueng Ro Cham Thien, head of Ia Nueng village, said: “People responded very positively to the movement. Not only did they maintain environmental hygiene and beautify village roads, but everyone also united to maintain security and order and build a civilized lifestyle. This is a great motivation for people to preserve and promote local traditional cultural values.”
In border communes such as Ia O, Ia Dom, Ia Hrung… one can easily see clean concrete roads, colorful flower fences, and communal house yards filled with laughter. This is not only the result of infrastructure investment, but also a testament to the change in awareness and actions of each citizen.
In the border commune of Ia O, the “three clean” model (clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley) implemented by the Commune Women’s Union has become a daily routine. Inter-village roads are concreted, with flowers planted on both sides and electric lights for nighttime illumination.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia O Siu Nghiep commune said: "Thanks to regular propaganda work, people have understood and voluntarily joined hands to build a cultural living environment. Cultural activities are both a place for entertainment and an opportunity for people to bond with their neighbors, arousing pride in their identity, thereby improving the quality of life, preserving traditional identity, and creating a new face for the border commune."
Linking new rural construction
According to statistics from the Steering Committee of the Gia Lai Provincial Movement, in 2024, more than 96.7% of households achieved the title of "Cultural Family"; more than 98.2% of villages and hamlets achieved the title of "Cultural Village and Residential Group"; 656 units achieved cultural standards for two consecutive years...
In Ia Hrung commune, hundreds of households pledged not to violate the law, not to commit social evils, not to commit domestic violence, and to promote the spirit of mutual assistance in production and daily life.
The rate of households achieving the title of cultural family has remained at over 95% for many years. Villages and hamlets regularly organize traditional festivals, great unity days, cultural exchanges, arts and sports.
Currently, the movement to build a cultural life in Gia Lai is not separate but closely integrated with the program to build advanced new rural areas and civilized and modern urban areas.
Criteria on housing, environment, landscape, and cultural institutions are integrated into local development planning. Many villages and hamlets have established self-managed security teams, environmental protection teams, and mass art troupes.
Other movements have also created strong influence such as:
“Farmers compete in production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably”; “All people participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security”; “Cadres, civil servants and public employees compete to practice office culture”; “Women actively study and work creatively in association with the 5 no, 3 clean movements” and “Friendly schools, active students”...
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, Le Thi Thu Huong, building cultural villages, hamlets and residential groups does not stop at just recognizing the title but needs to maintain and continuously improve the quality.
Ms. Le Thi Thu Huong emphasized: “We always encourage localities to propose new models and creative ways of doing things that are suitable to the characteristics of each locality to promote the inherent advantages of each land. From improving the landscape, raising community awareness to preserving cultural identity, the movement has contributed to shaping a new look for the rural highland areas of Gia Lai province.”
It can be seen that the clean and beautiful roads, the colorful flower gardens, the communal house yard filled with the sound of gongs and drums… are vivid evidence of the transformation of the highland. That is the result of infrastructure investment and the achievement of consensus, cooperation and joint efforts of the entire political system and the people.
These movements are gradually going into real depth, where each person becomes a cultural subject, each community becomes a cultural space, and each locality becomes a vibrant, humane, and unique cultural destination.
