Gia Lai province is strongly implementing the "All people unite to build a cultured way of life" movement, with many creative and practical approaches.

From remote villages and hamlets to urban neighborhoods, the movement has not only contributed to beautifying the landscape and improving the quality of life, but also fostered a spirit of solidarity, community awareness, and cultural pride among the people.

Movements from the base

According to Decision No. 938/QD-UBND of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee on the plan for implementing the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030; the goal of the plan is to build a healthy cultural environment, improve the spiritual life of the people, and promote the leading role of the community in preserving and developing culture.

The plan also emphasizes the completion of the cultural and sports infrastructure, the improvement of the quality of cultural titles, the implementation of village regulations and community conventions, the organization of festivals in accordance with regulations, and the promotion of the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.

The province focuses on building businesses that meet cultural standards associated with sustainable development, caring for the lives of workers, and promoting the role of mass organizations in building "Culturally Advanced Families" and "Families with 5 No's and 3 Cleanliness Standards".

In implementing the above plan, Ia Nueng village, Bien Ho commune, renovated the communal house grounds, planted more trees, and placed stone benches to organize activities for the brocade weaving club, gong and drum performance, and other community gatherings.

Village head Ia Nueng Rơ Châm Thiên said: “The people have responded very positively to the movement. Not only are they maintaining environmental hygiene and beautifying the village roads, but everyone is also united in maintaining security and order, and building a civilized way of life. This is a great motivation for the people to preserve and promote local traditional cultural values.”

In border communes like Ia O, Ia Dom, and Ia Hrung, one can easily find clean, well-maintained concrete roads, vibrant flower-lined fences, and communal houses filled with laughter. This is not only the result of infrastructure investment but also a testament to the transformation in the awareness and actions of each individual citizen.

In the border commune of Ia O, the "three clean" model (clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley) implemented by the Women's Union has become a daily routine. Inter-village roads are paved with concrete, lined with flowers, and illuminated at night.

According to Siu Nghiep, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia O commune: "Thanks to regular propaganda work, people have understood and voluntarily joined hands in building a cultural living environment. Cultural activities serve as both a place for recreation and an opportunity for people to strengthen community bonds, rekindle pride in their identity, thereby improving the quality of life while preserving traditional identity and creating a new face for the border commune."

Connecting efforts to build new rural areas.

According to statistics from the Gia Lai Provincial Steering Committee for the movement, in 2024, over 96.7% of households achieved the title of "Culturally Advanced Family"; over 98.2% of villages and hamlets achieved the title of "Culturally Advanced Village/Hamlet"; and 656 units met cultural standards for two consecutive years…

In Ia Hrung commune, hundreds of households have pledged not to violate the law, not to engage in social vices, not to commit domestic violence, and to promote a spirit of mutual support in production and daily life.

The percentage of households achieving the title of "Culturally Advanced Family" has remained at over 95% for many consecutive years. Villages regularly organize traditional festivals, national unity days, and cultural, artistic, and sports exchanges.

Currently, the movement to build a cultured way of life in Gia Lai is not separate but closely integrated with the program to build advanced new rural areas and civilized, modern urban areas.

Criteria for housing, environment, landscape, and cultural institutions are integrated into local development plans. Many villages have established self-governing security teams, environmental protection groups, and amateur performing arts groups.

Other movements also had a strong ripple effect, such as:

“Farmers compete in excellent production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty”; “All citizens participate in protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security”; “Cadres, civil servants, and public employees compete in implementing workplace culture”; “Women actively study and work creatively in conjunction with the 5 no's, 3 clean's campaign” and “Friendly schools, active students”...

According to Le Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, building cultural villages, hamlets, and residential areas should not only stop at recognizing the title but also require continuous maintenance and improvement of quality.

Ms. Le Thi Thu Huong emphasized: “We always encourage localities to propose new models and innovative approaches that suit the characteristics of each locality to leverage the inherent advantages of each region. From improving the landscape and raising community awareness to preserving cultural identity, the movement has contributed to shaping a new face for the rural highlands of Gia Lai province.”

The clean, well-maintained roads, vibrant flower gardens, and the lively sounds of gongs and drums in the communal house courtyards are vivid evidence of the transformation of this highland region. This is the result of infrastructure investment and the achievement of the consensus, cooperation, and joint efforts of the entire political system and the people.

These movements are gradually becoming more substantive, where each citizen becomes a cultural subject, each community becomes a cultural space, and each locality becomes a vibrant, humane, and distinctive cultural destination.
