The building collapse in the Philippines occurred on May 24th in Angeles City, north of Manila, when a building under construction collapsed, potentially trapping more than 20 people under the rubble.
According to local officials, five people have been confirmed trapped, two of whom are still in contact with rescue forces. In addition, 18 others are believed to be potentially still under the rubble based on a list of construction workers who were on duty that day.
Maria Leah Sajili, an information officer for the regional fire department, said the estimated number of trapped victims is currently 23. At the scene, rescue workers have to climb over large slabs of concrete, deformed steel, and green netting covering the structure to search for survivors.

Authorities said 24 people were rescued or evacuated from the vicinity, with no fatalities reported. Among those rescued was a 51-year-old Malaysian national staying at a nearby budget hotel. The hotel was damaged when the building's concrete structure collapsed.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. Records show that the building was licensed as a 9-story apartment-hotel, but the 10th floor, designated for a swimming pool, is currently under construction.
Ambulances were on standby at the scene, while fire trucks were also dispatched to assist with the rescue. Local officials said moving the concrete blocks posed a major challenge for the rescue team.
