Construction of National Highway 1 overpass connecting Phan Thiet Expressway is about to start

The overpass at the Ba Bau intersection on National Highway 1 (QL1) connects to the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, facilitating car access to and from the expressway and avoiding traffic conflicts and congestion at the gateway to Phan Thiet city.

On February 5th, Mr. Nguyen Cong Hop, Deputy Director of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway Management Board, stated that the Thang Long Project Management Board had coordinated with Binh Thuan province to encourage residents to hand over land for the early implementation of the overpass at the Ba Bau intersection on National Highway 1.

This is an additional feature added after the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway was put into operation at the end of April 2023.

"Currently, the Board is finalizing the necessary procedures to begin construction of the overpass soon. If all goes smoothly, the project is expected to start in April 2025," Mr. Hop informed.

According to the approved design, the interchange connecting to National Highway 1 (Ba Bau interchange) has been adjusted to an interchange with four branches entering and exiting National Highway 1 from the connecting route and the new Ham Kiem - Tien Thanh road (expressway connecting road), with each branch having two lanes.

Construct an overpass on National Highway 1 with four lanes, a roundabout intersection under the overpass, and expand the existing Suoi Sop bridge.

Add several service roads with rural road standards, supplementing the horizontal and vertical drainage systems.

Additionally, at the Phan Thiet intersection, a 1.2km right-turn ramp from the expressway will be added. It will have two lanes, a 7m wide road surface, a 3m wide right shoulder, and a 1m wide left shoulder.

Traffic is heavy on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway section passing through Binh Thuan province.

Previously, in July 2023, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province proposed the construction of an overpass at the Ba Bau intersection to alleviate traffic congestion.

The solution proposed by this province is to invest in the construction of an overpass on National Highway 1, the section passing through the Ba Bau intersection (at Km 1717+593, Ham Kiem commune).

At the same time, an additional right-hand branch road will be opened, heading from Dau Giay to Phan Thiet before reaching the Ba Bau interchange, to regulate the flow of vehicles entering and exiting the expressway, ensuring safer and more convenient traffic flow.
