At about 12:15 p.m. on December 1, 2025, Ms. TTTH (born in 1989, residing in La Nga commune, Dong Nai province) stopped to eat at a restaurant on National Highway 1A in Ham Kiem commune. After finishing eating, Ms. TTTH continued moving and forgot a yellow handbag containing 45.5 million VND and 6 18K gold bracelets weighing 6 taels. After discovering it, she immediately went back to look for it but was informed by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trung (born in 1976, residing in Tan Lap commune, Lam Dong province), who worked at the restaurant, that he had handed over the property to someone else to receive. Immediately after receiving the report, Ham Kiem Commune Police promptly verified, extracted camera footage and determined that there was no incident as Mr. Trung described. Realizing that the incident had signs of crime, the subject was suspicious and uncooperative, the Commune Police sent investigators and experienced officers to focus on fighting, examining and searching for assets.

At dawn on December 2, the police discovered evidence including 91 VND500,000 bills and 6 gold-colored metal rings hidden in the ceiling of a hut in Dan Binh village, Ham Kiem commune. Faced with undeniable evidence, Nguyen Ngoc Trung admitted that due to greed, he had appropriated the property when he discovered a customer's forgotten handbag. After taking the property, Trung stuffed rocks into the handbag and threw it into a nearby pond to conceal his actions.
