Residents of Vicoland apartment complex take advantage of the opportunity to get water at building C3.

On the morning of November 1st, at building C of the Vicoland apartment complex (Vy Da ward, Hue City), many residents gathered to collect water for daily use from a mobile water tanker belonging to Hue Water Supply Joint Stock Company (HueWACO). Taking advantage of the clean water supply after days of interruption, many households mobilized all available buckets and containers to collect water. Following the floods, the disruption of clean water supply to apartment buildings has disrupted daily life and caused difficulties for residents.

Ms. Nguyen Thi N., a resident of building A in the Vicoland apartment complex, said that since the flood, the buildings have been without clean water, making bathing and cooking difficult for residents. Residents have complained to the building management but have received no response. Meanwhile, with the temporary water supply from HueWACO's tanker trucks, residents have to carry water in buckets, which is very difficult.

According to HueWACO, after the floods, the pumping systems and reservoirs of apartment buildings became dirty and needed cleaning, or were damaged by being submerged in floodwater, leading to water supply interruptions. The water supply company uses the building's meters for water distribution, so interruptions often stem from the building management's failure to operate the pumping systems.

HueWACO is supplying water using mobile tankers, temporarily meeting the daily needs of the people.

To proactively respond to water supply disruptions in apartment buildings in the area following heavy rains and floods, HueWACO has implemented a mobile water tanker system to temporarily meet the daily needs of residents in severely affected areas such as Vicoland and Xuan Phu. Accordingly, HueWACO has proactively deployed vehicles and personnel, assigning one 10m³ water tanker to each area to ensure temporary water supply for residents.

Meanwhile, representatives from the Vicoland apartment complex management board stated that the lack of running water in the buildings was due to insufficient water pressure from HueWACO's pumps. According to them, in buildings A, B, C1, C2, and C3 of the Vicoland complex, the water supply tanks are located on the rooftops of the 7-story and 9-story buildings. Buildings A and B have pumps to push water to the rooftops, and the tanks have been cleaned and will have water on November 1st; however, buildings C1, C2, and C3 do not have pumps, and HueWACO will manually pump water to the upper floors. The company also has direct water supply contracts with individual households, bypassing the main meters of these buildings.
