Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper , lawyer Nguyen Tuyet Ngoc (who is defending Hong Loan's legal rights and interests) confirmed that the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City has scheduled an appeal hearing for the civil case concerning "Dispute over inheritance of property, request to annul individual decisions and claim for a house used for temporary residence," between the plaintiff, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung (sister of Meritorious Artist Vu Linh), and the defendant, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan (daughter of Meritorious Artist Vu Linh).
Accordingly, the appeal hearing for the case will be held on the morning of June 24th at the headquarters of the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City.
Those with related rights and obligations include: Ms. Le Thi Hong Phuong, Mr. Vo Thanh Nhieu (brother of Meritorious Artist Vu Linh), Huynh Thi Ngoc Yen Notary Office (Ward 14, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City), Phu Nhuan District People's Committee, and several other individuals.
Recently, the controversy surrounding the inheritance of Meritorious Artist Vu Linh has attracted significant public attention. Following the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court's first-instance trial on January 7th, the panel of judges decided that Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung would receive 15% of the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh's estate, while the remaining 85% would belong to Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan. The estate includes: the house and land at 5 Doan Thi Diem Street, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City; 3,007 m² of land in Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City); and a car.
Subsequently, Hong Loan filed a partial appeal against the first-instance judgment. According to the appeal, Hong Loan disagreed with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court's ruling that Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung was entitled to 15% of the total value of the late artist's estate. Hong Loan requested the Ho Chi Minh City High People's Court to review the case on appeal and amend the first-instance judgment to exclude Ms. Hong Nhung from receiving 15% of artist Vu Linh's estate.
The sister of the late artist Vu Linh appeals the verdict.
On January 20th, Ms. Hong Nhung also filed an appeal. In her appeal, Ms. Hong Nhung argued that the lower court's determination that Hong Loan was a first-degree heir entitled to 85% of the estate's value was incorrect.
