According to observations on provincial road DT.576C, potholes and large depressions have been patched with a mixture of compacted crushed stone and hot asphalt. Basically, after the repairs, the road surface is temporarily safe for traffic. However, in the long term, this road needs to be upgraded soon because re-damage is only a matter of time.

The section of road DT.576C right in front of Mr. Pham Ngoc Ba's house (residing in Nhi Ha village, Gio Hai commune, Gio Linh district) was riddled with potholes that have just been patched. Mr. Ba, like other residents here, is quite happy that the road has been repaired, making travel more convenient.

However, witnessing the recurring cycle of the road being patched up only to fall apart again, Mr. Ba hopes that the government will soon invest in upgrading it. "This road is heavily used, including by large trucks. It's been there for too long and is in a state of disrepair, so the people hope the government will pay attention and invest in upgrading it, because this situation is very unsafe for traffic," Mr. Ba expressed his concern.

Mr. Hoang Anh Quang, Director of the Traffic Maintenance Management Board, said that initially, the unit will carry out repairs and khắc phục damaged sections on the DT.576C route using annual maintenance funds to ensure safe travel for the people.

Regarding the investment plan, in 2025 the committee has included the upgrading of two sections, one over 1 km in Lam Xuan village, Gio Mai commune, and another section passing through Trung Giang commune. "Currently, the units are finalizing the design and are expected to begin construction to upgrade approximately 3 km of this road in April 2025," Mr. Quang informed.

Provincial Road 576C is 18.368 km long, starting from National Highway 9 and passing through the communes of Gio Mai, Gio Hai, Gio My, and Trung Giang in Gio Linh district. This road connects the district capital and contributes to socio-economic development. The road was built about 15 years ago and has deteriorated over time, with many sections severely damaged.

As previously reported by Quang Tri newspaper, many sections of the road are severely damaged, with the surface almost completely peeling off, loose gravel, and countless potholes. In some cases, there are deep holes nearly 20 cm deep and about 1 meter in diameter, acting as traps for road users. The severely damaged road surface causes muddy conditions during the rainy season and thick clouds of dust in the summer. Significantly, there have been numerous traffic accidents caused by vehicles falling off their vehicles due to hitting potholes on this road.

Given this situation, the people and local authorities have petitioned the government to invest in and upgrade the DT.576C road to ensure traffic safety and contribute to local economic development.
