At the "Giving Tet Gifts for the Year of the Horse 2026" program, organized by the Provincial Red Cross Society in coordination with the Vingroup Charitable Foundation in Cam Lo commune, the atmosphere was lively and bustling with the participation of a large number of people. To ensure the program ran smoothly, volunteers from the Provincial and local Red Cross Societies busily guided people in queuing and assisted elderly people and people with disabilities in moving to their designated positions.
Since receiving notification from the local authorities about the gifts, Mr. Duong Ngoc Tan (born in 1981), from Cam Lo commune, has been overjoyed. From early morning, he and his son prepared to go to the gift distribution location. Mr. Tan's family is in very difficult circumstances. He is the main breadwinner, but after a work accident two years ago, despite seeking treatment in many places, his eyesight has not been restored.
Four months ago, due to his poor eyesight, he fell and broke his leg. His wife has an unstable job, and their income is insufficient to support their four children who are still in school and his elderly, ailing mother. Upon receiving the gift, Mr. Tan was deeply moved: “Despite our difficult circumstances, we are fortunate to always receive the care and support of organizations, groups, and kind-hearted people. This gift is a great source of encouragement for my wife and me to work harder in the new year, to help my elderly mother and children have a better life.”

In Tan Thanh commune, Ms. Dinh Thi Gai (born in 1987) and many other disadvantaged households shared the joy of receiving early Tet gifts from the Provincial Red Cross Society. “Receiving gifts that included both cash and essential goods, my family will have a warmer Tet holiday. I am very grateful to the government and the Red Cross Societies at all levels for their care and assistance to my family,” Ms. Gai expressed.
It is known that, not only in Cam Lo and Tan Thanh communes, the "Giving Tet Gifts for the Year of the Horse 2026" program, implemented by the Quang Tri Provincial Red Cross Society in coordination with the Vingroup Charitable Foundation, was also organized in 7 other communes and wards throughout the province, bringing 3,200 gift packages worth more than 1.9 billion VND to vulnerable people.
"Tet of Compassion" is an annual activity in the humanitarian journey towards the community, maintained by the Provincial Red Cross Society in coordination with other organizations for many years. Each year, the program is developed in different forms and names, but with the common goal of helping vulnerable people have a warm and fulfilling Tet holiday, while also concretizing the Party and State's policy on ensuring social security, with the determined spirit of "leaving no one behind" of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
Specifically for the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, in addition to the Vingroup Charitable Foundation, the Provincial Red Cross Society also coordinated with many other units such as: the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard... to donate hundreds of gifts to people in difficult circumstances throughout the province.
To date, the "Tet of Compassion" program has seen the synchronized participation of the government, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, businesses, and the community. From the Red Cross Society to local authorities, from large enterprises to philanthropists, all have formed a network to care for the lives of vulnerable people in society. Each gift given is not just a bag of goods or a sum of money, but the result of a process of surveying, connecting resources, and systematic organization.
The Chairwoman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, Mai Thi Kim Nhung, stated: “Tet (Lunar New Year) is a time for families to gather, reunite, and celebrate the new year together. However, there are still many unfortunate lives, living in poverty. With the desire to share some of these difficulties, the Provincial Red Cross Society continuously strives to implement the “Compassionate Tet” movement, mobilizing the joint efforts of organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to care for the poor and vulnerable during Tet. This not only demonstrates the traditional “mutual support” and “helping those in need” of the nation and the concern of the Party, State, Fatherland Front, Red Cross Society, and the entire society for the poor and those in difficult circumstances, but also helps people gain more motivation to improve their lives. We hope that in the future, the Provincial Red Cross Society will continue to receive the attention and support of all levels, sectors, organizations, and businesses so that humanitarian activities will continue to be extended, spread strongly, effectively, and sustainably.”
