Sesko was disappointing against Wolves. |
The draw at Old Trafford was considered a major shock, especially given Wolves' deep-seated position at the bottom of the league table. MU's lackluster attacking performance quickly became the focus of criticism on social media, with Sesko, the expensive summer signing, being the most frequently mentioned name.
The Slovenian striker was included in the starting lineup and expected to lead the Red Devils' attack, but he disappointed by missing a golden opportunity in the second half. From a well-placed cross by Casemiro, Sesko headed the ball inaccurately, sending it straight to goalkeeper Jose Sa. This play further fueled the fans' frustration.
On social media platform X, many Manchester United fans have compared Sesko to Rasmus Hojlund, the Danish striker currently shining at Napoli on loan. Numerous opinions have questioned whether Sesko is truly an upgrade over Hojlund. Some comments even suggest that Sesko has performed worse than his counterpart, despite a transfer fee of £73.7 million.

The statistics also partly reflect that disappointment. Since moving to Old Trafford from RB Leipzig, Sesko has only scored two goals. Before that, he had 13 goals in 33 Bundesliga games last season, a not-so-impressive number considering the huge price tag Manchester United paid for him.
Currently, Sesko has yet to secure a regular starting spot and spends most of his time coming on as a substitute. With increasing pressure from fans, Sesko clearly needs to quickly improve his form if he doesn't want to continue being the target of criticism in the future.
