According to a report by the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports , in 2025, the country recorded 32.9 million international tourists, a decrease of 7.23% compared to 2024. Along with the decline in tourist numbers, revenue from international tourism also decreased by 4.71%, to approximately 1.53 trillion baht.
In terms of source markets, Malaysia continues to lead with approximately 4.5 million visitors, followed by China (4.4 million), India (2.4 million), Russia (1.8 million), and South Korea (1.5 million).
Although still holding a key position, many major markets have not achieved the expected recovery levels, reflecting a cautious international tourism landscape following a series of disruptions ranging from regional border conflicts and cross-border fraud cases involving Cambodia to earthquakes, natural disasters, and increasingly fierce competition among Southeast Asian destinations.

Thanks to this support, total tourism revenue in 2025 is expected to reach around 2.7 trillion baht, helping the industry maintain its overall growth momentum.
Mr. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), stated that the target for 2026 is to welcome 36.7 million international visitors and approximately 205 million domestic visitors. The focus is not only on quantity, but also on increasing the frequency of travel and expanding the spending of tourists.
