At 3 PM at the Thanh Cong Secondary School (Giang Vo) examination center, students who had finished their English exam for the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi in 2026 began to leave the examination room.

The candidates' faces lit up with joy upon hearing the news that this exam wasn't too "difficult." Compared to the Literature exam in the morning, the students felt a sense of relief.

Hoang Bach and Hoang Duc An (from the Experimental Primary, Secondary & High School) said that English is their strong subject. As soon as the exam ended and they went down to the schoolyard, the two friends quickly compared their answers to estimate their score.
"The English exam was designed to differentiate students, but it certainly wouldn't differentiate us. I expect a perfect score of 9.5-10," Duc An's confidence made the surrounding parents chuckle and breathe a sigh of relief.

Ms. Diep Anh was checking her daughter's answers, and even after the 20th question, she still hadn't found any mistakes. "I just want my daughter to feel at ease and relaxed; for us parents, it doesn't matter where she gets into the exam," she said. Besides, her daughter also assured her that she would definitely score above 9 points, which reassured the parent.

At the Tran Duy Hung Secondary School exam center, Nguyen Ngoc Bao An (Vietschool Pandora Secondary School) said the exam was quite manageable and she expects to score around 9 points. However, she also regretted missing out on a perfect 10 due to making two mistakes on the test.
According to many candidates, some questions in the exam were designed to differentiate candidates and were easily confusing. For example, question 15 in exam code 011 has two parts; if you pay attention to the first part being in the simple past tense, then the second part must also be in the simple past tense. If you only pay attention to the word "always" at the beginning of the question, candidates can easily choose the wrong tense for the verb.

Mr. Huu Thanh (a parent) shared: "This is the first time I've taken my child to the 10th grade entrance exam, so I'm quite nervous and anxious." For the past month, his family has been constantly caring for and encouraging his child to have the most relaxed mindset possible and achieve their first choice of high school, Le Quy Don High School in Ha Dong. He added that, besides the handheld cheering sign, he also prepared some gifts for his child after the exam.
"Seeing my children come out after the second exam, all beaming and reporting high expected scores, I felt very relieved," he said.

Vu Ha Chi (15 years old) waited for her friend at the Tran Duy Hung Secondary School exam site from early morning with a large bouquet of flowers. "This is my way of showing my affection and encouragement for my best friend," Chi shared.
Chi added that because she was studying under an international curriculum, she didn't participate in the 10th grade entrance exam with her peers. Therefore, she wanted to be there to encourage her classmates before and after the exam.

Ngoc Diep (candidate, on the left) said she was very happy with her English exam: "Because this is a subject I studied a lot for, I'm sure my score will be high."
After the first two exams, Ngoc Diep is confident she will be admitted to her first choice, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students.

Parents waited outside the exam center gates, breathing a sigh of relief upon hearing that their children had performed well on the English exam this afternoon.
