Tighten food safety management during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival sees a surge in consumer demand for goods and services. Besides the vigilance and caution of the public, businesses and production and trading establishments need to demonstrate their appropriate roles and responsibilities in protecting consumer rights.

Currently, the demand for goods and services in the market has increased compared to before. The goods and services offered at various establishments are relatively common and diverse, meeting consumer needs, especially children's toys, confectionery, and beverages. However, the origin, quality, and expiration dates of these products are issues that need attention. Ms. Cao Thi My Phuong, owner of the M&P convenience store (Binh Kien ward), said: "At the moment, beverages, confectionery, and children's toys are items with high demand, and sales are increasing daily. To ensure consumers buy quality goods, we always carefully examine the origin, labels, and production conditions. However, if it's counterfeit or fake goods, we have difficulty detecting them because we lack the skills and resources to inspect them."

Market management forces inspect confectionery and beverages at a sales point in Tuy Hoa ward.

Currently, not everyone has the knowledge and skills to distinguish between quality and poor-quality goods, or between genuine and counterfeit products. Ms. Nguyen Hong Hoa (Buon Ma Thuot ward) said: "Usually when buying goods, I just look and buy if it suits my needs. Children also only choose based on their preferences, styles, and eye-catching colors. Therefore, the issue of product safety and quality needs to be addressed and controlled by relevant authorities."

According to provincial authorities, in recent times, alongside production and business establishments that comply with regulations on product quality and food safety, there are still many small-scale businesses, seasonal producers, that do not comply with regulations, selling counterfeit or imitation goods, and goods of unknown origin. To protect the legitimate rights of consumers, authorities have intensified market inspections and food safety checks during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Recently, the People's Committees of Tuy Hoa and Buon Ma Thuot wards conducted inspections to ensure compliance with business conditions and food safety standards for food production and service establishments within their jurisdiction. They identified and took action against establishments that did not meet the requirements or violated regulations related to the production and sale of goods and services. In addition, provincial departments and agencies established three inter-agency inspection teams, conducting inspections in nine wards and communes. This work has enabled authorities to promptly detect, prevent, and address violations, protecting the rights of citizens.

Mr. Vuong Minh Son, Head of the Market Management Department of Dak Lak province, said that the market management teams under his unit have worked with businesses and production and trading establishments, requesting them not to trade counterfeit goods or goods of unclear origin, and to commit to complying with the regulations of the law in the production and business of goods and services. During market inspection and control, the forces always disseminate information and remind organizations and individuals engaged in production and business activities to comply with the regulations of the law in all business fields...

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in order to raise consumer awareness in choosing safe and transparent products and services, the department advises people to be cautious in selecting and using goods and services, avoiding the purchase of substandard, expired, or products with unclear origins to protect their health.

Businesses and production and trading establishments should enhance their responsibility and strictly comply with legal regulations on consumer protection, fulfilling their social responsibilities in the production and trading of goods and services; aiming to create a transparent and healthy market in line with the message "Transparent information - responsible consumption" that the central and local governments have directed in the work of protecting consumer rights.
