In April, traversing winding slopes and rolling hills, 54 members of the Hand In Hand student group (part of the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, Da Nang University) arrived in Song Y village (Tra Tan commune) to deliver gifts of love to the local people.
Speaking about the journey, student Nguyen Thanh Khang, leader of the Hand In Hand group, said that through the preliminary trip, the group clearly understood the difficulties and hardships of the local people, so they planned to call for support to organize the "Tra Tan 2026" community outreach program with the theme "Summer Sunshine".
According to Khang, Song Y village has 176 households, mainly Ca Dong ethnic people, of which 90% are poor. The village lacks basic infrastructure and adequate lighting. Therefore, over three days, the group members implemented three gift-giving programs with a total budget of 170 million VND.
Specifically, they donated 30 sets of solar-powered lighting, gave 172 gift packages of essential goods, provided free haircuts and organized a music exchange night; donated 193 school supplies, cooked 250 meals of love and guided students in painting statues, cutting and pasting, and drawing; installed bookshelves, medicine cabinets, and a football field at schools, provided tools and personal supplies for teachers, and painted the school and decorated classrooms.
"The program has ended, but the firm handshakes and radiant smiles amidst the mountains and forests from the local people and children have given the whole group more motivation to continue organizing more meaningful programs," Khang confided.
Meanwhile, the Sclub Soft Skills Club (under the Student Union of the University of Technology, Da Nang University) also raised funds for charity by organizing the musical drama "The Tragic Melody of the Moon Pavilion" at the Trung Vuong Theater.
Accordingly, each ticket sold will bring smiles to the faces of the people in Hamlet 3, Tra Leng Commune in July. Student Truong Dao Kim Hai (a member of the club) shared that, over the past 17 years, the club has regularly organized musical theater nights to raise funds for charity. Following the success of previous years, this year, the group continues to raise funds to help the people and children in the hamlet.
“The club is delighted that after two weeks of launching the campaign, 900 tickets have been sold, each costing 60,000 VND. This has raised nearly 50 million VND for the trip, covering expenses such as gifts, essential supplies, and support activities to connect with local people. It will also cover repairs, construction, and equipping of facilities in the village. Last year, the club also organized the ‘Green Seed’ charity program in Nam Tra My commune,” Hai said.
