The Communications Department of the State Bank of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Banking Academy, is organizing a series of financial education and communication events in 2024 with the theme "Smart Money". The series of events is for students studying in Hanoi and the surrounding areas.

This activity aims to implement the National Comprehensive Financial Strategy and government projects, such as the Project to Improve Access to Banking Services for the Economy , the Project to Develop Non-Cash Payments in Vietnam giai đoạn 2021-2025, the Project to Promote Bank Payments for Public Services; improve access to formal capital sources, contributing to minimizing illegal lending, etc.

According to the Payment Department (State Bank of Vietnam), the goal of the series of events is to equip students with basic knowledge of finance and banking; the history of Vietnamese currency, understanding the value of money; guiding them on how to access banking products and services, and important considerations when borrowing from banks, in order to improve people's access to official sources of capital and minimize illegal lending.

At the same time, students are also equipped with knowledge about legal regulations on savings, guidance on procedures and processes for depositing savings, notes and warnings for people when depositing savings; legal regulations on payment activities, introduction and guidance on how to use payment products and services; notes and warnings in using payment services to ensure safety and avoid risks for users; protecting the rights of consumers using financial and banking products and services...

The "Smart Money" event series in 2024 includes many activities such as: a talk show exploring Vietnamese currency; a seminar on financial education for students; a financial knowledge contest; a booth exhibition; mini-game competitions at the outdoor stage; a grand music festival to welcome new students; a student supermarket and a lucky draw with thousands of prizes;...

The Communications Department (State Bank of Vietnam) believes that raising financial literacy and providing financial education is an urgent requirement today. Financial education for young people is a crucial step. Simple, easy-to-understand, easy-to-remember, and accessible financial education will help students understand personal financial management, guide their consumption, avoid the risks of predatory lending, and contribute to building a foundation for a stable and sustainable financial future.

Through this program, students will learn basic information and knowledge about consumer credit, cashless payments, and precautions to protect themselves from risks when using financial products and services.

In particular, with the participation of the four best teams from leading universities in the Northern region, the Financial Literacy Competition will help young people accumulate useful knowledge about finance and banking, learn how to access and use financial products and services, understand student loan products, and know how to avoid loan shark traps…

Furthermore, the continuous activities over two days, October 1st and 2nd, featuring nearly 30 booths from commercial banks, finance companies, payment intermediaries, etc., promise to offer many unique and interesting experiences. Here, students will be introduced to and learn about financial products and services, and how to use modern banking and financial products, thereby increasing their practical experience.
