Italy's No. 1 tennis player Jannik Sinner continues to assert his position at the prestigious ATP Finals 2025 season-ending tournament. Not only did he excel in a dramatic victory over rival Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner also officially broke a unique record in the history of the tournament.
According to Opta , Sinner became the first player in ATP Finals history to win consecutive matches for multiple years without dropping a set on his way to winning the tournament.
Earlier, Sinner's unbeaten record in a single set was almost threatened when Alcaraz led 6-5 in the first set.
The pressure was on the world number 1, but he showed his mettle at the right time to level the score at 6-6.
In the deciding tie-break, Sinner showed his strength when he won 7-4, breaking the Spanish player's mini break twice.
Sinner seemed to lose his composure early in the second set, allowing Alcaraz an early break in the first game. However, that advantage was quickly erased at 3-3 when Sinner regained the break with a beautiful crosscourt shot, bringing the match back to par.
In the end, Sinner maintained his excellent form, won the overall and preserved his historic record.

For Carlos Alcaraz and his team, it was a disappointing evening on a surface the player wants to improve on before the new year.
Despite his success on other surfaces, indoor hard courts are still something Alcaraz has yet to improve on. Notably, this was only his third indoor final of his career, following victories at the ATP Next Gen Finals four years ago and Rotterdam earlier this year.
Sinner's achievement further prolongs the wait of Spanish fans for the ATP Finals title. It has been 27 years since Alex Corretja's championship in 1998, Spain has not had a player win this prestigious tournament.
