At the A9 Emergency Center of Bach Mai Hospital, the number of emergency cases during peak hot weather days has increased significantly. On average, there are about 250 patients per day, but during intense heat, this number can reach around 300 cases. Of these, cases related to the heat increase by about 20-30%.
According to doctors, people should especially avoid prolonged work or travel during peak hours of sunlight, particularly from late morning to early afternoon. Initial warning signs include: excessive sweating, cramps, muscle pain, dizziness, headache, nausea, fatigue, or fainting. If body temperature rises to 39-40 degrees Celsius, skin is hot and dry, delirium, convulsions, or coma occur, this should be considered a medical emergency.
Extreme heat is not only uncomfortable but can also be life-threatening. Proactive sun protection, adequate rest, proper hydration, and prompt attention to any unusual symptoms are ways to protect your health during days of high temperatures. If severe symptoms occur, call emergency services (115) or take the patient to the nearest medical facility.
