The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has temporarily suspended procedures related to the Board of Directors of public schools.

GD&TĐ - The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just announced the temporary suspension of procedures for recognizing and consolidating the School Boards of public kindergartens and primary and secondary schools in the city.

This announcement is included in the guidelines for the work of school councils in public preschool and primary/secondary education institutions, signed and issued by the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Van Hieu.

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stated that the temporary suspension of procedures for recognizing and consolidating school councils will be implemented until a new legal document replaces the current regulations on school councils or until new guidance is issued by the management agency.

For newly established or merged preschools and primary/secondary schools that do not yet have a School Council, the Director of the Department of Education and Training (for units under the Department) or the Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune (for units under the ward, commune, or special administrative region) will assign the Party Secretary or the Principal of the school to perform the duties and powers of the School Council as stipulated in the charter and related documents.

In cases where the School Board, the Chairman of the School Board, or the Secretary of the School Board has completed their term, they shall continue to manage the Board's operations until further notice or as decided by the governing body.

In cases where the Chairperson of the School Board has reached the retirement age, the Director of the Department of Education and Training or the Chairperson of the People's Committee at the commune level will assign the Party Secretary or the school principal to manage the School Board.

The above decision was made by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training to implement Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, and Resolution No. 281/NQ-CP dated September 15, 2025, of the Government promulgating the action program to implement Resolution 71-NQ/TW.

This includes the provision "not to organize school councils in public educational institutions," which is consistent with the Ministry of Education and Training 's guidelines on school council work in public preschools and primary and secondary schools.
