Soc Trang is expected to create the largest painting made from ST rice in Vietnam and set a record for dishes from shrimp at this year's Trang Oc braised festival.
Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thi Diem Ngoc said today that the two records are expected to be established during the Orc Boo - Ngo boat racing festival in Soc Trang province, taking place in three days from November 25 to 27.
The detailed plan of creating the largest painting made from ST rice in Vietnam and setting a Guinness Vietnam record with 223 shrimp dishes has not been revealed.
Oc om Bo festival or Moon worshiping festival usually takes place on the full moon day of October every year with main activities such as Ngo boat race, Moon worshiping ceremony, Loi Protip contest (dropping water lanterns) and Ca Hau boat show.
In addition, the festival also has activities such as trade promotion fairs for regional specialties, street food, art exhibitions, and national costumes.
Soc Trang has a large aquaculture area, with more than 79.000 hectares in 2022, with an output of nearly 378.000 tons, mainly black tiger shrimp and white shrimp. Besides seafood, the province has a large area of rice cultivation, including the ST25 variety that won the first prize at the world's best rice contest in 2019.
