With the Lunar New Year approaching, the shopping atmosphere in Thanh Hoa has become more bustling than ever. Supermarkets, shopping malls, traditional markets, and convenience stores are all crowded with customers. The increased consumer demand not only boosts sales but also creates a vibrant market landscape with various retail models, from large enterprises to small shops, serving diverse needs of the people.

The retail market is bustling during the Lunar New Year holiday. Consumers shop for essential Tet holiday items at Go! Thanh Hoa supermarket.

From the beginning of the twelfth lunar month, major supermarkets in the province have launched a series of attractive promotional programs, attracting the attention of a large number of customers. Supermarkets such as Go!Thanh Hoa, VinMart, Co.op Mart... not only focus on increasing revenue but also strive to provide customers with convenient, economical, and comprehensive shopping experiences during the Tet holiday. Large discounts are applied to essential consumer goods such as rice, cooking oil, spices, processed foods, confectionery, and alcoholic beverages, not only helping to alleviate the financial burden on people but also creating a vibrant and bustling shopping atmosphere throughout the supermarkets.

Over the past two weeks, at Go! Thanh Hoa supermarket, Tet gift baskets have been the best-selling item, with various price segments to meet diverse customer needs. According to supermarket statistics, over 5,000 Tet gift baskets have been sold, both through direct sales and online channels. To facilitate consumer selection, the supermarket has expanded the display area for Tet-related items in easily accessible locations. The Tet stalls at Go! Thanh Hoa are attractively decorated with colorful spring imagery. Here, Tet products such as gift baskets, wine, banh chung (traditional rice cake), banh tet (traditional Tet cake), Tet jam, and imported fruits are beautifully displayed, easily attracting customer attention. Each stall features prominent promotional signs, making it easy for consumers to identify and choose discounted products. In addition to traditional sales channels, Go!Thanh Hoa is also boosting sales through e-commerce platforms, providing customers with more convenient options through online shopping applications.

Similarly, Co.op Mart supermarkets are equally bustling. The entire system has launched a major promotional program with over 1,500 Tet (Lunar New Year) products discounted by 50% or more; they are also organizing Tet markets with fixed prices, lasting until the 29th day of the lunar month. Essential consumer goods such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, spices, confectionery, sausages, nuts, and beverages are also heavily discounted, attracting a large number of customers during Tet. In particular, the supermarket is also applying a "Sale in Pairs - Discounts in Pairs" program for specific product combos, such as cooking oil and rice noodles combos, dishwashing liquid and kitchen cleaner combos, shower gel and cotton pads combos, bed sheets and pillowcases sets, etc. For Tet-themed products such as confectionery, jams, nuts, and beverages, the discounts are also very attractive, offering customers the opportunity to save money during this year's Tet season.

Not only large supermarkets and convenience stores, but also traditional markets like Vuon Hoa Market and Dien Bien Market attract a large number of customers. At these markets, people can easily find fresh food products such as pork, chicken, banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), gio cha (Vietnamese sausage), and various fresh fruits. In addition, specialty products and Tet (Lunar New Year) jams are also sold at stalls everywhere. Ms. Hoang Thi Lanh, a fruit vendor at Dien Bien Market, shared: “Tet season is always the busiest time of the year for us. Knowing the surge in shopping and gift-giving demand, this year I have imported more high-end imported fruits such as American apples and Australian grapes to meet customer preferences and needs.”

Along with the bustling retail market, small shops and local production facilities also play a significant role in meeting people's Tet shopping needs. Specialty products such as Thanh Hoa fermented pork sausage, Tu Tru sticky rice cake, or Thach Thanh rice wine are not only meaningful Tet gifts but also become symbols of distinctive cultural features, loved not only within the province but also in other provinces and even abroad.

Ms. Do Thi Minh, owner of Tuyen Minh fermented pork sausage production facility in Dong Son ward, shared: "Every Tet holiday, our facility produces about 20,000 sausages to serve the needs of customers not only in the province but also from distant provinces. This year, we noticed the special interest of consumers in gift sets, especially fermented pork sausage, so we decided to expand our product range by packaging them into Tet gift sets. This not only makes it easier for customers to choose but also meets the need for gift-giving during this important holiday."

To ensure a balance between supply and demand and stabilize the market from now until the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to closely coordinate with relevant departments, agencies, and localities to closely monitor the market situation. The goal is to ensure sufficient supply of essential goods to meet people's needs, avoiding shortages or price spikes, especially during the upcoming peak season. In addition, the department will strengthen inspection and supervision at supermarkets, convenience stores, and traditional markets, coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure that goods not only meet quality standards but also have clear origins, thereby protecting consumer rights and maintaining market stability.
