The report also points out that retailers are increasingly relying on automation and artificial intelligence (AI) to address issues of merchandise loss, inventory management, and the need for a seamless shopping experience, amid a continued decline in consumer satisfaction.
Research findings indicate that shopper satisfaction levels have declined for the second consecutive year, both in-store (79% globally, 75% in the Asia- Pacific region) and online (73% globally, 69% in the Asia-Pacific region). This is a continuation of the previous two years, when peak satisfaction levels were recorded in 2023 at 85% globally (for both in-store and online shopping) and 81% in the Asia-Pacific region (for online experiences).

The study also revealed a shift in shopper priorities. While increasingly focused on convenience, speed, and value, nearly eight out of ten consumers (78% globally, 74% in the CA TBD) still prioritize discounts and promotions amid persistent inflationary pressures. Simultaneously, customers demand excellent service, expressing dissatisfaction with out-of-stock situations (68% globally, 63% in the CA TBD), items locked in lockers (70% globally, 67% in the CA TBD), or the lack of self-checkout counters (62% globally, 56% in the CA TBD).
