
Attending the plum festival in Long Phieng commune were: Ms. Luong Thi Van Anh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Internal Affairs Department of Son La Province; and Mr. Xonphay Xilavong, Secretary of Mong Nam commune, Xieng Kho district, Hua Phan province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Currently, Long Phieng commune has 1,035 hectares of late-season plums, with an expected yield of over 9,600 tons in 2026. In recent years, the people in the commune have focused on applying advanced techniques to production and cultivation in a safe and sustainable manner, contributing to improving the quality and value of the product.

Currently, Long Phieng commune has harvested approximately 3,500 tons of fruit, reaching 36.4% of the planned production, with an estimated value of about 110 billion VND. This includes over 1,000 tons of off-season plums, averaging 50,000 VND/kg; 1,500 tons of early-ripening plums, averaging 30,000 VND/kg; and about 1,000 tons of seasonal plums. The products are mainly sold at wholesale markets inside and outside the province.

The highlight of the Long Phieng commune plum festival was the plum picking competition and the agricultural product booth display competition, with the participation of 8 teams from villages in the commune.
In the joyful and lively atmosphere of the plum orchards during the peak ripening season, the competing teams demonstrated their agility and skill in harvesting, thereby contributing to promoting the image of the local specialty plum region.

In the booth display section, 8 teams showcased a variety of distinctive products such as late-season plums, clean agricultural products, OCOP products, handicrafts, and unique traditional cultural spaces.
The beautifully decorated stalls, reflecting the rich cultural identity of the ethnic groups, attracted a large number of visitors who came to explore and experience them.

The event also included activities to support people in digital transformation, such as updating subscriber information, setting up level 2 electronic identity verification accounts, and livestreaming to support plum sales on digital platforms.
In addition, activities such as competitions showcasing Long Phieng, cultural performances reflecting the ethnic identity, and sports like tug-of-war and stick pushing took place enthusiastically, creating a joyful and united atmosphere during the festival.

At the festival, visitors can also tour and experience the plum orchards, directly enjoy fresh plums from the trees, and explore the natural landscape and cultural life of the local people.

Through these activities, the festival contributes to promoting the Long Phieng plum brand, fostering experiential tourism development, enhancing the value of agricultural products, and gradually improving the lives of people in the area.

At the end of the event, the Organizing Committee awarded 8 first prizes, 8 second prizes, 8 third prizes, and 15 consolation prizes to outstanding teams and individuals in the competition, experience, and performance categories.

During the two-day event, Long Phieng commune sold over 50 tons of plums, of which more than 10 tons were sold through digital platforms.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Long Phieng commune presented gold plaques of gratitude to collectives and individuals who contributed and supported the organization of the festival; and honored 2 collectives and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements in developing plum growing areas, improving product quality and connecting consumption, contributing to promoting the Long Phieng plum brand to markets inside and outside the province.
