Just days after its release, the music video for "Come My Way" became one of Sơn Tùng M-TP's most talked-about musical products.

The music video not only garnered attention for its collaboration with Vietnamese-American rapper Tyga, but also sparked discussion thanks to a series of details deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture and hidden meanings embedded throughout the work.

The music video "Come my way" marks the return of Son Tung M-TP.

In a recent interview with Hypebeast, Son Tung M-TP shared for the first time about the project's development, the reasons for choosing Tyga, and his ambition to bring Vietnamese music closer to international audiences.

According to the singer, he and Tyga have known each other for many years and have missed several opportunities to collaborate.

“We’ve known each other for a long time. Honestly, I can’t remember how many times I wanted to collaborate with him. Luckily, everything finally came to fruition this year, and I feel like it was fate,” Son Tung shared.

The singer said that after completing the music for "Come My Way," he immediately thought of Tyga for the rap part and sent the song to the American rapper.

However, according to Son Tung, what makes the project special is not just the music, but also the connection to their roots. Tyga has Vietnamese blood in him, and that helps the collaboration go far beyond the scope of a simple entertainment product.

"This isn't just a song. It's also an opportunity for both of us to reconnect with our roots," the singer said.

Meanwhile, Tyga shared similar sentiments in an interview with Forbes. The American rapper stated that he has always been proud of his Vietnamese heritage and sees Come My Way as a meaningful opportunity to celebrate that identity.

"As someone with Vietnamese blood running through my veins, I've always been proud of that. Therefore, being able to celebrate that identity through an internationally acclaimed musical product like 'Come My Way' is truly a meaningful experience," Tyga said.

"Preserving identity is the most important principle."

In the interview, Son Tung spent a lot of time talking about the role of Vietnamese culture in his musical journey.

"I've never forgotten why I started this journey. No matter what happens, I always try to preserve that original part of myself, because it reminds me of the early days when I entered the entertainment industry with the purest love for music," Sơn Tùng M-TP said.

The male singer said that growing up surrounded by folk melodies and traditional music profoundly influenced his artistic thinking, from how he handles melodies to his singing style and how he conveys emotions.

"The way I sing is heavily influenced by traditional music. I think that's one of the things that makes me different," he said.

After more than a decade in the arts, Son Tung affirms that preserving his identity is not simply a creative choice, but the most important professional principle.

"After more than 13 years in the arts, I've realized that as long as I always remember who I am and where I come from, I will never lose myself or my unique identity," the singer shared.

According to him, it is the connection to his roots that helps his music maintain its unique identity in an increasingly globalized entertainment market.

Regarding his plans to expand into the international market, the singer said: " Over the past three years, I've been working step by step to bring my music to a global audience. Of course, I've made a lot of preparations, because when pursuing a long-term journey, talent alone isn't enough. To go the distance, you need more than that."

The male singer also stated that once he decides to do something, he will pursue it to the end, dedicating all his efforts to it. "I don't want this dream to remain just a question mark in my mind. I want to find the answer myself," Son Tung M-TP shared.

Besides stories about music and culture, Son Tung also explained for the first time the detail that appeared in the after-credits scene of the "Come My Way" music video.

In the final seconds of the music video, the image of the male singer creating a white creature has led many viewers to speculate about his next project.

According to Son Tung, this is entirely an artistic intention.

"It's not just a worm. It's the gateway to the next chapter I've prepared for the audience," he revealed.

This post immediately sparked much speculation about a new project that the singer is pursuing in the long term after "Come My Way".
