(NLĐO) - The author of the post published on social media stated that he stopped his car due to a problem but was fined by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police.
On January 16th, a Facebook account posted content in a group with over 1.4 million members claiming that a car involved in a parking violation was fined by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police.
The article was posted on social media but it is untrue.
Accordingly, the article depicts a car moving on the road when it encounters a problem and has to stop, with the engine still running, the driver not leaving the driver's seat, and the hazard lights on.
The authorities came to give a warning, and after exchanging information, they happily let it go and continued their patrol. However, recently, this person was fined for a traffic violation detected by the police.
The content also includes an image showing a traffic violation. The image shows a car violating the no-parking rule in front of the Saigon Centre building, Le Loi Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, at 10:39 AM on September 3, 2024.
The post attracted thousands of interactions and caused outrage.
The Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police has coordinated with relevant professional units to clarify the above information.
The video clip depicts the incident.
Initial findings indicate that the article is inaccurate. CCTV footage shows a "no stopping or parking" sign on Le Loi Street. At the time of the incident, several cars were parked in front of the Saigon Centre building.
The aforementioned car, with the driver and another person still inside, had its engine running and showed no warning signs of a vehicle malfunction.
The clip also shows two traffic police officers patrolling, filming, and not stopping to talk to anyone.
