In his opening speech, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat said that AI4VN is an initiative of the Ministry and has become an annual event over the past 5 years, attracting the attention of management agencies, businesses, scientists, research centers, with the common mission of promoting innovation.
In recent times, artificial intelligence (AI) has become one of the key technologies of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, and has increasingly received attention and investment, and is contributing to change and strongly promoting the socio -economic development of countries. Recently, artificial intelligence has shown remarkable development, with many products and applications based on artificial intelligence technology being born and attracting the attention of the community, especially artificial intelligence products.
In Vietnam, according to comrade Huynh Thanh Dat, after more than two years of implementing the artificial intelligence strategy, we have achieved some very encouraging initial results. These results were reflected in the report "Government AI Readiness Index" conducted by Oxford Insights in collaboration with the Canadian International Development Research Center. Accordingly, in 2022, Vietnam ranked 55th out of 181 countries ranked in the world , up 7 places compared to 2021.
At this event, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat also highly appreciated the connecting role of AI4VN, helping managers, businesses, and scientists both domestically and internationally to come closer together.
"We believe that many products introduced at the event will soon be connected with the community, applied in life, and strongly contribute to the development of Vietnam," the Minister of Science and Technology affirmed.
At the opening ceremony, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University Vu Hai Quan said that the event is an important playground for the artificial intelligence industry, a meeting place for policy makers and businesses to develop artificial intelligence.Ho Chi Minh City National University is oriented to develop into a leading university in Asia, in which semiconductor technology, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence are the three spearheads. The total scale of training blocks related to artificial intelligence such as information technology, electronics-telecommunications, precision automation mechanics, etc. alone has about 6,000 undergraduate students, 1,000 graduate students, and a teaching force of about 300 teachers with doctoral degrees or higher.
With its potential and internal strength, Ho Chi Minh City National University wishes to play an important role in providing high-quality human resources, especially in new fields such as artificial intelligence and data science for the development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the Southeast region and the country in general.
It is known that AI4VN is an annual event, directed by the Ministry of Science and Technology in coordination with the Club of Information and Communication Technology Faculties - Institutes - Schools (FISU). The event attracted thousands of registrations from the domestic and international community interested in artificial intelligence. Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day (AI4VN 2023) took place over two days, September 21-22, including 4 main activities: AI Summit, AI Workshop, AI Expo and CTO Summit 2023 - honoring the company with the best technology environment in Vietnam.
Throughout the two days, the AI Expo exhibition space featured 30 booths from technology companies and universities, such as Aqua Vietnam, AI Next Global, FPT, Naver, VinBigdata, VNPT, etc. Here, the units also demonstrated AI application products. Visitors were excited to experience the Saltlux virtual receptionist, the smart robot for the library of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Aqua home appliances, virtual reality piano from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH), Oppo OHealth H1 health monitor, etc.
Over the past 5 years, the program has attracted more than 10,000 participants and more than 100 speakers to discuss the development of a sustainable artificial intelligence ecosystem in Vietnam./.
