In his opening remarks, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat stated that AI4VN is an initiative of the Ministry and has become an annual event over the past five years, attracting the attention of management agencies, businesses, scientists, and research centers, all sharing the common mission of promoting innovation.

In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has become one of the key technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, receiving increasing attention and investment, and contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of nations. Recently, AI has shown remarkable progress, with numerous products and applications based on AI technology emerging and attracting considerable public interest, especially AI-powered products.

In Vietnam, according to Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat, after more than two years of implementing the artificial intelligence strategy, we have achieved some very encouraging initial results. These results are reflected in the report "Government's AI Readiness Index" conducted by Oxford Insights in collaboration with the Canadian Centre for International Development Studies. According to the report, in 2022, Vietnam ranked 55th out of 181 countries worldwide , an increase of 7 places compared to 2021.

At this event, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat also highly appreciated the connecting role of AI4VN, helping to bring managers, businesses, and scientists both domestically and internationally closer together.

"We believe that many of the products introduced at the event will soon be connected to the community, applied to life, and make a strong contribution to the development of Vietnam," the Minister of Science and Technology affirmed.

At the opening ceremony, the Director of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Vu Hai Quan, stated that the event is an important platform for the artificial intelligence industry, a meeting place for policymakers and businesses to develop artificial intelligence.

The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) is oriented towards developing into a leading university in Asia, with semiconductor technology, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence as its three key areas of focus. Specifically, the training programs related to artificial intelligence, such as information technology, electronics and telecommunications, and precision automation engineering, comprise approximately 6,000 undergraduate students, 1,000 postgraduate students, and a teaching staff of around 300 professors with doctoral degrees or higher.

With its potential and internal strengths, the National University of Ho Chi Minh City aspires to play a crucial role in providing high-quality human resources, especially in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and data science, for the development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the Southeast region and the whole country in general.

AI4VN is an annual event directed by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Faculty, Institute, and University of Information and Communication Technology Club (FISU). The event attracts thousands of registrations from the domestic and international artificial intelligence community. The Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day (AI4VN 2023), held on September 21-22, included four main activities: AI Summit, AI Workshop, AI Expo, and CTO Summit 2023 – honoring companies with the best technology environment in Vietnam.

Throughout the two days, the AI Expo featured 30 booths from technology companies and universities, such as Aqua Vietnam, AI Next Global, FPT, Naver, VinBigdata, VNPT, etc. Here, these organizations also showcased their AI-powered products. Visitors enthusiastically experienced the Saltlux virtual reception service, intelligent robots for libraries from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Aqua home appliances, a virtual reality piano from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), and the Oppo OHealth H1 health tracker…

Over the past five years, the program has attracted more than 10,000 participants and over 100 speakers to discuss the development of a sustainable artificial intelligence ecosystem in Vietnam.
