Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai shared with teachers about the application of artificial intelligence in teaching.
Teachers, school administrators, and representatives from the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City and its districts and counties at over 300 locations participated in an online training session with Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, head of the research team at the THRIVE STEM Education Program at the University of Missouri (USA), on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in student assessment.
According to Dr. Hai, the role of teachers in the application of AI is to help students understand the basic nature of AI; motivate students to learn; help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills; and ensure fairness and inclusion in the educational environment.
From there, Dr. Hai introduced and guided students on the free tools and software that teachers can use to apply AI to student assessment, closely following the 2018 General Education Program.
Dr. Hai also emphasized that when applying AI, teachers need to develop a reflexive response through questions such as: Does AI help students learn more deeply? Does AI help personalize learning for students? Does AI help students develop qualities and competencies? How are honesty and integrity demonstrated? What is the role of teachers when using AI in learning?
Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, emphasized the importance of AI applications in education.
At the training session, Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, shared: "With the sharing of practical experiences from experts of major universities in a leading country in science and technology, teachers will gain more confidence, passion, and solutions for digital transformation for themselves, contributing to digital transformation in education."
Mr. Hieu also emphasized: "Through today's training session, the administrative orders from the Department of Education and Training will no longer be an issue; instead, teachers themselves will be ignited with passion and responsibility for digital transformation and the application of AI. Currently, we are living in a digital environment, and whether we like it or not, we have to implement it. Applying information technology or using AI so that students can benefit is a glorious responsibility of teachers in the context that countries and the whole world are moving towards. If we do not move forward together, do not breathe in sync with it, we will fall behind."
