During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh paid great attention to the medical profession and doctors. He once clearly stated: "... medical staff must love patients as if they were their own siblings, and wholeheartedly and diligently serve the people." Imbued with this advice, over the years, members of the Young Doctors Club of Binh Gia District have always strived to care for the health of the people, implementing many practical programs and activities aimed at the community.
The Young Doctors Club of Binh Gia District has 50 members, including doctors, nurses, and staff currently working at the District Health Center. Dr. Ban Tien Quynh, Deputy Head of the Surgery - Dentistry - Ophthalmology - Otolaryngology Department and Chairman of the Club, said: "We always believe that learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example is not something too lofty, but rather something that stems from the smallest actions in our work and daily lives. It's about dedication to patients, a sense of responsibility, and sharing with the community, especially those in remote and disadvantaged areas."
A highlight of the club's activities is the regular provision of free medical check-ups and health consultations at local facilities. Recognizing that residents in remote communes far from the district center have limited access to healthcare, the club has implemented these activities at the grassroots level. From 2019 to the present, the club has organized and coordinated with several units to conduct 13 free health check-up and consultation sessions, distributing free medicine in the communes of Hong Thai, Quang Trung, Yen Lo, Thien Thuat, Thien Hoa, Binh La, Tan Van, Tan Hoa, etc. Through these activities, more than 4,400 people received free general check-ups, tests, and prescriptions. The total value of these activities is estimated at over 100 million VND.
Mr. Hoang Van The, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thien Long commune, said: In March 2025, the Young Doctors Club of Binh Gia district coordinated a program of medical examinations and treatment and some charitable activities in the area. Nearly 100 people received free health check-ups and consultations, and the people were very happy and excited. This activity clearly demonstrates the affection and concern of the medical team for the people in disadvantaged areas.
Furthermore, the members consistently demonstrate a spirit of dedication to patients, exemplified by their voluntary blood donation activities. With the motto "every drop of blood given saves a life," over the past period, regardless of day or night, whenever called upon, the club members have actively donated blood to provide timely emergency care for patients.
Mr. Hua Van Huy, a nurse in the Surgery - Dentistry - Ophthalmology - Ear, Nose, and Throat Department and a member of the club, shared: "In mid-May, upon receiving news that a pregnant woman at the hospital was in critical condition due to severe anemia, I volunteered to donate blood. With timely support, the pregnant woman has overcome the critical situation. Previously, in 2024, I also volunteered to donate blood to help save patients. I believe this is the right thing to do, and we are always willing to do it for the benefit of patients."
In addition to its professional activities, the club also maintains activities such as visiting and giving gifts to people in remote and disadvantaged areas. These include giving gifts to underprivileged students who overcome difficulties; visiting and encouraging families facing hardship, etc.
It is through practical activities that the club members have gradually learned, trained, and improved their medical ethics. Each person has undergone a transformation in thought and action, upholding the spirit of learning to improve their professional skills and expertise, and cultivating medical ethics to successfully fulfill their nhiệm vụ of caring for community health. Recently, the club was honored to be one of the collectives to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in "Studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh " in the period 2016 - 2025.
Ms. Vi Thi Yen Quynh, Secretary of the District Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Youth Union in Binh Gia District, assessed: "In the past period, the Young Doctors Club of Binh Gia District has effectively played its role in implementing volunteer activities for community health. The club's charitable activities, directed towards the grassroots, not only contribute to raising awareness and providing healthcare for the people but also spread the pioneering and volunteer spirit of young people."
The activities of the Young Doctors' Club of Binh Gia District are not limited to healthcare but also contribute to spreading noble ethical values such as dedication, compassion, sharing, and responsibility to the community. These young doctors have truly become shining examples of medical ethics and expertise, contributing to building and spreading the image of young doctors who are compassionate and dedicated to the people.
