Strengthen guidance on caring for the 2025 spring rice crop.

According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the area planted with spring rice in the entire province has reached 34,854 hectares, achieving 98.79% of the plan. Currently, the rice plants are in the tillering stage; some pests and diseases such as blast disease and rats have appeared. This is a crucial time that determines yield if proper care and pest control techniques are followed.

Farmers in Son Vi commune, Lam Thao district, are tending to their spring rice crop in 2025.

According to forecasts from the Viet Bac Regional Meteorological and Hydrological Station, from now until the end of February, the weather will remain at low temperatures below 20 ^° C, combined with prolonged light rain and high humidity, creating very favorable conditions for fungal diseases to develop and cause damage, affecting growth and development, and reducing crop yields.

Given the above situation, to ensure the successful implementation of the rice production plan targets for the Spring crop and the entire year of 2025, and to overcome unfavorable weather conditions, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requests localities to focus on directing specialized departments and units to strengthen their efforts in going to the grassroots level to guide farmers in planting the entire planned area; guiding rice plant care from the beginning, carrying out thinning and replanting to ensure density, and maintaining the water level in the fields at 2-3 cm.

For rice fields that have not received the first round of fertilizer, but the rice has already rooted and turned green, farmers should be advised to apply fertilizer when the temperature is above 15 ^° C, using 12kg of NPK-S 12.5.10-14/sao or 3-4kg of nitrogen + 2-3kg of potassium/sao (or use other organic fertilizers or specialized fertilizers as recommended by the manufacturer); combine this with mud aeration to help the root system develop, increase nutrient absorption, and reduce physiological diseases.

Strengthen field inspections to detect early and direct timely and effective control of pests and diseases right from the beginning of the season, paying particular attention to rice blast disease; organize a concentrated rat eradication campaign from now until March 15, 2025.
