Creating momentum for accelerating the city's economy.

July marked a significant transition following the merger of administrative units, with many changes in management, resource allocation, and the reorganization of urban development space. Accordingly, the city's economy maintained strong growth in the first seven months, expanding production and business sectors to create momentum for accelerated growth.

Expanding economic development

In July, commercial, service, and transportation activities in the city saw many positive developments thanks to several summer tourism festivals. The successful Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2025 attracted a large number of tourists, creating a clear impetus for the accommodation, food and beverage, and travel industries.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in July 2025 are estimated at VND 23,016 billion, an increase of 2.5% compared to the previous month and an increase of 28.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

For the first seven months of 2025, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue are estimated to reach VND 146,990 billion, an increase of 24.9% compared to the same period in 2024.

Wholesale sales revenue for July 2025 is estimated at VND 27,206 billion, an increase of 1.9% compared to the previous month and a 12% increase compared to the same month in 2024. For the first seven months of 2025, total wholesale sales are estimated at VND 174,564 billion, an increase of 16.8% compared to the same period, with growth observed across all product categories.

For the industrial sector, the Industrial Production Index (IIP) in July 2025 increased by 15.4% compared to the same period in 2024.

It is estimated that in the first seven months of 2025, the Industrial Production Index (IIP) in the city increased by 13.3% compared to the same period in 2024, with the key manufacturing industry increasing by 13.1%; electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution increasing by 16.2%; water supply, waste management and wastewater treatment increasing by 7.5%; and mining activities increasing by 52.1%.

This is a rather impressive increase over the past three years (2023-2025), despite the challenging domestic and international economic context.

Meanwhile, agricultural production is proceeding under relatively favorable weather conditions, with farmers focusing on sowing and tending rice and other seasonal crops. However, pig farming is facing difficulties due to the resurgence of African swine fever in many localities.

Forestry is thriving with an increase in newly planted forest area and timber production. Fisheries are developing steadily, with fishing fleets operating effectively offshore, and seafood production showing a slight increase compared to the same period last year.

In the first seven months of the year, the area of ​​newly planted forests reached over 6,200 hectares, an increase of 12.5%; scattered tree planting reached over 5.6 million trees, an increase of 5%; and timber production reached 1.32 million cubic meters, an increase of 7.5% compared to the same period in 2024. In the first seven months of 2025, fisheries production reached over 90,000 tons, an increase of 2.9% and an increase of 2,500 tons compared to the same period.

According to a representative from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the department is advising on and restructuring the agricultural production sector towards modernization, improving productivity and competitiveness, creating key, distinctive, organic, high-value, and food-safe products.

At the same time, develop the rural economy in conjunction with ecotourism and experiential tourism, integrating multiple values ​​into agricultural products; strictly implement regulations on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing...

According to Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, the trade of goods in Da Nang City after the merger continues to record a positive growth trend. Retail and wholesale sales both increased compared to the previous month and the same period last year. Most product groups maintained stable growth, indicating that people's purchasing power is gradually recovering, consumer demand is improving, and this reflects a positive sign in the distribution and circulation of goods in the expanded city.

To promote production and business, the city's industry and trade sector continues to play a leading role in implementing free trade agreements and carrying out the information and communication plan on international economic integration for the period 2021-2025.

The Department, in coordination with relevant agencies and units, proposes policies to support the development of logistics services, creating a favorable foundation to attract import and export goods circulating within the city.

At the same time, the department is implementing policies to support businesses in technological innovation, production development, and enhancing competitiveness to meet the increasingly high demands of the export market.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tam, Director of the Department of Finance, the department's main tasks in the coming period are to remove difficulties and obstacles in investment, unlock resources, and promote investment attraction; review and evaluate the results of implementing policies to support businesses, and promptly adjust and supplement policies in a focused and targeted manner.

The next task is to improve the efficiency of public investment capital management in the city; develop a medium-term capital plan for the period 2026-2030 and allocate annual capital plans.

In addition, the department is strengthening its management and supervision of businesses; researching mechanisms and policies to improve the financial capacity, production and business efficiency, and market competitiveness of businesses after restructuring.

July: Consumer price index rises slightly.

On August 5th, Da Nang Statistics reported that the consumer price index (CPI) in the city in July 2025 increased slightly by 0.2% compared to the previous month and by 3.21% compared to the same period in 2024. The average CPI for the first seven months of 2025 increased by 3.32% compared to the same period in 2024.

Of the 0.2% increase in the CPI in July 2025, 8 out of 11 groups of goods and services saw price increases; 3 out of 11 groups saw price decreases compared to the previous month. The groups with increases compared to the previous month were: housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials (up 0.87%); food and catering services (up 0.24%); and clothing, footwear and headwear (up 0.12%).

The group of household equipment and supplies increased by 0.12%; the group of medicines and medical services increased by 0.08%; the group of beverages and tobacco increased by 0.08%; the group of other goods and services increased by 0.03%; and the group of education increased by 0.02%. Groups that decreased compared to the previous month were: transportation (down 0.55%); culture, entertainment and tourism (down 0.04%); and postal and telecommunications services (down slightly 0.01%).

In July, the complicated situation of African swine fever impacted the market, causing a sharp drop in the price of pork and processed pork products. However, increases in rental housing prices, electricity and water bills, and public transportation and tourism costs contributed to a slight increase of 0.2% in the CPI in July 2025 compared to the previous month.
