| Tri An Lake is one of the tourism routes connecting to Long Thanh Airport. |
Accordingly, to create a breakthrough for tourism in Dong Nai , the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed the formation of five tourism axes connecting with the main core being Long Thanh Airport - a leading international air transit hub in Southeast Asia in the future, with an expected capacity to welcome 100 million passengers per year.

Dong Nai has developed tourism strategies linked to the Long Thanh Airport urban area to maximize the influx of international and domestic tourists; and to transform the airport into a tourist and shopping destination instead of just a transportation hub.
Typical examples of five tourism development axes proposed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism include: The axis connecting Long Thanh Airport with the Tri An Lake area and Bien Hoa city. This is a continuous link between the urban area and nature (forests, lakes, the island system on Tri An Lake, orchards) and local culture. The second axis connects with the Chua Chan Mountain ecological, resort, and entertainment area with its unique mountain and lake ecosystem, expected to attract millions of tourists annually. The third axis connects with the forest ecological tourism routes in Cat Tien National Park and Tan Phu Protective Forest. This is considered a nature exploration axis linked to the unique forest-river-lake-hot spring ecosystem, caves, and rocky mountains of Dong Nai, prioritizing sustainable tourism, aiming for green growth, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Along with the three aforementioned connecting axes, Long Thanh Airport is also proposed to form tourism routes connecting with the Dong Nai River corridor (the longest inland river in Vietnam). Notably, these are also two pillars identified by the city as strategic drivers for breakthrough socio-economic development. Therefore, exploiting the advantages of the landscape and the system of historical sites along the river (Nguyen Huu Canh Temple, Ong Pagoda, Dai Giac Pagoda, traditional Bien Hoa pottery workshops, etc.) is expected to create unique and distinctive tourism products.

Dong Nai possesses a comprehensive transportation infrastructure system encompassing all five modes of transport: road, air, rail, sea, and inland waterways. Notable examples include Long Thanh International Airport, Phuoc An Port, and 10 expressways that have been, are being, or will be implemented. This provides a strong foundation for Dong Nai's tourism industry to leverage its advantages and achieve breakthrough growth.
Developing world-class services.
According to economic experts, Dong Nai is emerging as a major growth engine in the Southern key economic region, playing a vital role as a gateway connecting the Southeast with the Central Highlands and other areas. Long Thanh Airport plays a key connecting role in this context.
Sharing the advantages of tourism in Dong Nai associated with the Long Thanh Airport urban area, at the scientific conference on "Orientation for the Development of Tourism in Dong Nai in the New Context," organized by the Provincial People's Committee (now the City People's Committee) in March 2026, Master Do Le Phuc Tam from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City stated that: In order for the tourism development model associated with the Long Thanh Airport urban area to truly spread throughout the city, Dong Nai needs to establish an effective connection mechanism between the "core" of the airport urban area and satellite cities such as Tri An Lake, Cat Tien National Park, and the ecological and cultural spaces of Dong Nai.
According to Master's degree holder Do Le Phuc Tam, Dong Nai needs to focus on developing corridors along the main connecting routes, specifically the rapid transport links between the airport and urban areas, into tourism experience corridors. Along these corridors, rest stops, tourist information centers, local food areas, cultural spaces, traditional craft villages, and ecological and agricultural experiential activities could be established. In addition, sports tourism activities such as golf, mountain climbing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and ecotourism could be developed in transitional areas between urban areas and natural ecosystems.
