Creating fake accounts impersonating district leaders to commit fraud.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Authorities have determined that criminals used images and personal information of leaders in Duc Trong district ( Lam Dong province ) to create fake social media accounts for fraudulent purposes.

On October 26th, the People's Committee of Duc Trong District, Lam Dong Province, announced that they had recently discovered individuals using personal information and images of Duc Trong District People's Committee leaders to create fake Zalo accounts impersonating district leaders, then befriending and messaging others for personal gain.

To prevent impersonation of leaders and fraud, the People's Committee of Duc Trong district has requested departments, the People's Committees of communes and Lien Nghia town, and organizations and individuals to increase vigilance; and to refrain from befriending, exchanging information, or fulfilling requests for loans or money transfers with unusual social media accounts.

Recently, authorities in Lam Dong province have recorded several cases of individuals forging official government documents and creating fake social media accounts impersonating organizations to carry out fraudulent activities.

In late September, a group of people forged a decision from the Lam Dong Department of Health regarding the establishment of a team to inspect and monitor food production and business establishments, requesting restaurant and eatery owners to provide documents and information.

In early October, a fake Facebook account impersonated the Da Lat Music Night Run 2024 in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province, to solicit participants for registration with a ticket price of 269,000 VND.
