The 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union was attended by 780 outstanding delegates, representing the will, aspirations, and intellect of nearly 10 million trade union members nationwide. These are exemplary trade union officials and members representing various industries, sectors, localities, and units throughout the country.

Before commencing the working program, earlier that morning, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) and delegates attending the congress visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and laid wreaths at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street ( Hanoi ).
With the motto "Unity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development," the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union has the task of summarizing and evaluating the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union for the period 2023-2026; reviewing the activities of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) of the 13th term; determining the goals, tasks, and breakthroughs for the 2026-2031 term; amending the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union; and electing the Executive Committee of the VGCL of the 14th term.

According to the program, the congress will focus on in-depth discussions of documents, draft regulations, action programs for the new term, and solutions for membership development.
Delegates also participated in thematic discussions at five discussion centers, focusing on major issues related to trade union organization and operation in the new era.

The Congress also launched an emulation movement among cadres, union members, and workers to successfully achieve the goals and tasks of the 2026-2031 term.

Mr. Mai Manh Dung, Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Corporation (VEAM), believes that the congress needs to continue to provide specific directions and mechanisms to encourage and spread the "Excellent Worker - Creative Worker" movement.
"I believe that the movement to encourage skilled and innovative labor will continue to be an important driving force in boosting labor productivity, improving production and business efficiency, and contributing to achieving the country's economic growth targets in the coming period," Mr. Dung said.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Thong, Chairman of the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union, expects the congress to propose solutions to strongly innovate the content and methods of trade union activities, and improve the effectiveness of patriotic emulation movements in the new situation.
"The 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union will continue to affirm the role of the patriotic emulation movement as an important driving force to promote production development, enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, and contribute to building a modern and strong Vietnamese workforce," Mr. Thong shared.

Many opinions also suggest that, in the context of digital transformation, green transformation, and increasingly deep international integration, trade unions need to continue to play their role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers; while creating a favorable environment for workers to develop initiatives, improve technical skills, enhance professional qualifications, and increase labor productivity.
Ms. Do Thi Hien, Chairwoman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Federation of Labor, expressed her hope that the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union would propose strategic decisions that would create breakthroughs in reforming the organization and operation of trade unions, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of representing, caring for, and protecting the rights of union members and workers, meeting the requirements of national development in the new period.
