Lac Hong University once again crowned champion of Robocon Vietnam.

Having overcome many strong competitors to win the Robocon Vietnam 2026 title, the LH-FOF team from Lac Hong University (Dong Nai) will represent Vietnam at ABU Robocon 2026 in Hong Kong this August. This marks the 11th time Lac Hong University has won the Robocon Vietnam title.

After defeating the Robocon team from Hung Yen University of Technology and Education in the final match, the members of the LH-FOF team shared with Thanh Nien Newspaper that their journey to the championship was the result of unity, perseverance, and an unwavering belief.

The success of the LH-FOF team is the result of the collective effort of the entire team.

The LH-FOF team consists of 20 members involved in researching, designing, programming, manufacturing, and operating the robot. Three of these members directly compete on the field: Truong Duy Thanh Nhan, Tran Minh Quan (both students from class 22TD111, Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering), and Han Quoc Bao (student from class 23AI111, Faculty of Information Technology).

According to Quân, the championship title doesn't belong to any single individual, but is the result of the entire team's tireless efforts over many months. "The moment of victory was unbelievable," Quân said.

Recalling the moment of victory, Nhan said that the emotions were difficult to describe in words. "When the final whistle blew, for the first few seconds we almost couldn't believe it was true. All the sleepless nights in the workshop, the times the robot malfunctioned right before the competition, the pressure and anxiety of months gone by all came flooding back in that moment," Nhan shared.

When asked about the most important factor that helped LH-FOF overcome a series of strong competitors to reach the top position, all members gave the same answer: unity.

"During the robot development process, the team frequently faced conflicting opinions, failed trials, or unexpected technical problems. However, instead of giving up, all members sat down together to analyze the causes and find solutions. We always trusted each other. Every error was seen as an opportunity to improve the product. It was this perseverance that helped the team come this far," Quân said.

A breathtaking final match and an unforgettable moment.

The final match between LH-FOF and SKH-AST (Hung Yen University of Technology and Education) was considered one of the most dramatic matches of the season. According to Bao, the most memorable moment occurred in the final seconds when the robot performed the Kungfu Master challenge.

"After an initial error where the robot failed to successfully place the box on the second floor, the entire team had to return the robot to the retry area to start over. Everything happened very quickly, but the pressure was immense. Just one small mistake could completely change the outcome of the match. When the robot completed the task and the victory signal appeared, we were truly overwhelmed with joy," Bao recalled.

Quân stated that one of the distinguishing features of LH-FOF this season is that instead of pursuing the goal of having the fastest robot, the team focused on building a stable and reliable operating system.

According to Quân, speed isn't necessarily the deciding factor in a Robocon competition. A very fast but unstable robot can lose all its advantage because of a small mistake. "Therefore, the team spends a lot of time improving the accuracy, stability, and repeatability of the robot under all competition conditions," Quân said.

Recalling the journey to winning the Robocon Vietnam 2026 championship, Nhan said that the most memorable thing was probably the sleepless nights spent working with the robot. "The journey of building the robot wasn't always smooth. The biggest difficulty was the unexpected technical errors that appeared when everyone believed the robot was complete. There were days when the robot performed very well in the testing lab, but when put into a real-world environment, completely new errors would arise. Many times, the whole team had to stay up until almost dawn to find the cause and fix it," Nhan recounted.

To balance their studies and participation in the competition, the team members attended classes during the day like regular students, while they dedicated almost all their evenings and weekends to robotics. In the final stages of the competition, many members worked continuously from morning until late at night for weeks on end.

Aiming for the highest goal in the Asian arena.

Immediately after winning the national championship, LH-FOF began preparing for ABU Robocon 2026 in Hong Kong this August. Currently, the entire team is re-evaluating the robot system, analyzing its strengths and weaknesses to further upgrade it. Priority areas include increasing stability, improving processing speed, enhancing adaptability to various competition situations, and developing new tactical strategies.

According to Quân, the biggest challenge in the international arena will come from traditional rivals such as Japan or host country Hong Kong. "They have a very strong research foundation, with systematic investment over many years. However, that is also the motivation for us to try even harder," Quân stated.

While acknowledging this as a valuable opportunity to learn from strong teams in the region, LH-FOF's ultimate goal remains the highest.

"When representing Vietnam at ABU Robocon, we always aim for the championship. We will compete with all our might to bring the best results back to our country," Quân added.

Bao also stated that behind the success of winning the Robocon Vietnam 2026 championship was the silent support of his teachers and family. "This championship is also a gift of gratitude to all those who have silently supported us. With that spirit, LH-FOF is embarking on a new journey at ABU Robocon 2026, carrying the expectations of the school, the fans, and the aspiration to help Vietnam conquer the pinnacle of regional robotics," Bao said.
