Wooden boat collides with speedboat, one person dies.

According to the Dong Thap Provincial Police, regarding the waterway traffic accident that occurred in the area resulting in one death, by the morning of April 29th, authorities had found the body of Mr. Truong Huu Ai at the mouth of the Tra Tan River, where it intersects with the Nam Thon River.

Earlier, at around 8:30 AM on April 28th, the Long Tien Commune Police received a report from residents about a collision between a civilian watercraft and a wooden boat on the Tra Tan River (section belonging to Hamlet 12, Long Tien Commune, Dong Thap Province).

Initial verification indicates that at approximately 7:05 AM on the same day, Mr. Vo Thanh Sang (born in 1973, residing in Hamlet 5, Long Tien Commune) was operating a watercraft (a wooden boat, without a license plate, and with an undetermined tonnage) traveling from Tra Tan Bridge towards Nam Thon River. Upon reaching the area near the saltwater intrusion barrier on the Tra Tan River, within the waterway of Hamlet 12, his vessel collided with a civilian watercraft (a composite motorboat) operated by Mr. Truong Huu Ai (born in 1976, residing in Nui Cam Commune, An Giang Province).

The powerful collision caused Mr. Ai to fall into the river and disappear, while the small boat sank completely. According to the initial assessment by the authorities, the cause of the accident may have been due to the operator of the wooden boat lacking attention, leading to the collision.

Immediately after receiving the report, the Long Tien Commune Police quickly arrived at the scene, coordinating with other functional forces to verify and record the incident, and create an initial report. At the same time, they coordinated with the professional forces of the Dong Thap Provincial Police and relevant units to examine the scene and conduct investigations according to regulations.

The Dong Thap Provincial Police are continuing to investigate and clarify the case in order to handle it according to the law.
