On July 3, the Customs Department ( Ministry of Finance ) informed that in June 2025, the total value of import and export of goods nationwide is estimated at 75.59 billion USD (down 3.9%, equivalent to a decrease of 3.04 billion USD compared to the previous month).
Of which, the export value is estimated at 39 billion USD (down 1.5%, equivalent to a decrease of 0.59 billion USD compared to the previous month) and the import value is estimated at 36.59 billion USD (down 6.3%, equivalent to a decrease of 2.45 billion USD compared to the previous month). Vietnam's trade balance of goods in June 2025 is estimated to have a surplus of 2.41 billion USD.
The total value of import and export of goods in the first 6 months of 2025 is estimated at 431.49 billion USD (up 16.0%, equivalent to an increase of 59.49 billion USD over the same period last year). Of which, the export value is estimated at 219.34 billion USD (up 14.2%, equivalent to an increase of 27.29 billion USD over the same period last year) and the import value is estimated at 212.15 billion USD (up 17.9%, equivalent to an increase of 32.20 billion USD over the same period last year). Vietnam's trade balance of goods in the first 6 months of 2025 is estimated at a surplus of 7.19 billion USD, down 40.6% compared to the surplus in the same period last year.

Regarding the state budget revenue situation, the state budget revenue from import-export activities from June 1 to June 30, 2025 reached VND 38,688 billion, down 6.3% compared to May 2025. Accumulated from January 1 to June 30, 2025, the state budget revenue from import-export activities reached VND 222,749 billion, equal to 54.2% of the assigned estimate, up 10.3% (equivalent to an increase of VND 20,874 billion) compared to the same period in 2024.
In the fight against smuggling and trade fraud, in the first 6 months of 2025, the anti-smuggling work at the Customs Department was drastically deployed throughout the region, route and area. In particular, the Customs force has focused on fighting, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights in the new situation. Proactively advising the Ministry of Finance and the National Steering Committee 389 to deploy a peak plan to attack and suppress crimes of smuggling and illegal cross-border transportation of counterfeit, fake, poor-quality and unknown origin goods. Promptly issuing warnings about fraudulent methods of origin, illegal transshipment and "hot" items such as drugs, precursors; items on the list of US tariff policies on routes and areas. Thereby, detecting and arresting many large and complicated cases, contributing to cleaning up the business environment and creating trust for consumers.
As a result, from December 15, 2024 to June 14, 2025, the Customs authority discovered, arrested and handled 8,561 cases of customs law violations, with an estimated value of violating goods of VND 13,614 billion. The amount of money collected for the State budget reached approximately VND 461.36 billion. The Customs authority prosecuted 8 cases and transferred 54 cases to other agencies for prosecution. Also during the above period, the Customs authority presided over and coordinated with specialized forces in drug crime prevention and control to detect and arrest: 103 cases/110 subjects, of which the Customs authority presided over 43 cases. The seized exhibits were about 2 tons of various drugs (94.7% more than the total amount of drugs seized in the same period in 2024), including: 401.7 grams of opium; 122.39 kg of marijuana; 32.6 kg of heroin; 1.86 kg of cocaine; 1,471 kg of ketamine; 273.53 kg and 1,899 MTTH pills; 106 kg and 60,000 pills of other drugs.
