The French women's team entered their Round of 16 match at the 2023 Women's World Cup against Morocco with confidence. After a poor start in the group stage, the European representatives gradually regained their form and proved that they are a strong contender for the championship this year.
After the opening whistle, coach Herve Renard's players quickly took control of the game and continuously pressed the Moroccan women's team. In the 49th minute, Ouzraoui played a delicate through ball to Jraidi, but she mishandled the ball and the scoring opportunity was lost. Nine minutes later, Ouzraoui herself failed to keep up with a teammate's pass. The three-goal lead made the French women's team somewhat complacent. They played without focus, frequently making misplaced passes in their own half.
In the 40th minute, Vicki Becho delivered a precise cross for Le Sommer to head in, extending the lead to 4-0. Neither Morocco nor France could score any more goals despite numerous opportunities. The victory went to the French women's team, making them the final team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2023 Women's World Cup.
