VHO - On the evening of August 1st, at the East Sea Park, the Vietnam-Korea Festival in Da Nang City 2025 officially opened, marking the 4th time the event has been held in the city.

The festival is an opportunity to showcase the friendship between the two countries, while also expanding cooperation between Da Nang and Korean localities and partners in many fields.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong said that this year's festival continues the success of 2024 and opens a new phase of development in bilateral cooperation.

According to Mr. Cuong, the city hopes to work with Korean partners to develop many practical cooperation initiatives, contributing to deepening the bilateral relationship and contributing to the common development of Vietnam and Korea.

This year's festival is on a larger scale, encompassing many activities in the fields of investment, trade, high-tech agriculture , science and technology, tourism, cultural exchange, sports, and cuisine.

In particular, the first-ever "Meeting Korea in Da Nang" conference was successfully held, providing an opportunity for both sides to review the results of past cooperation and exchange views on future development directions.

Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

The Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee also emphasized that from 2022 to the present, South Korea has been the city's largest international tourist market. In just the first seven months of 2025, Da Nang welcomed 1 million South Korean tourists – a figure that not only reflects Da Nang's outstanding appeal but also affirms the strong friendship between the people of Vietnam and South Korea.

Right at the opening ceremony, a grand event was held to celebrate "Welcoming the 1 millionth Korean visitor to Da Nang in 2025".

Many unique cultural and tourism activities

This year's festival was elaborately organized, with many highlights reflecting the distinct identities of both countries. The East Sea Park area was decorated with exquisite miniature landscapes, harmoniously combining Vietnamese and Korean cultures, creating an attractive experiential space for locals and tourists.

Over 80 stalls participated in the festival, showcasing characteristic products of both countries and OCOP products from Da Nang. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy cuisine and experience traditional and modern products from reputable Vietnamese and Korean brands.

This year's festival runs until August 3rd with many diverse activities. More than 80 booths from major brands of both countries and characteristic OCOP products of Da Nang will offer the most attractive experiences for locals and tourists.

A variety of activities were also organized throughout the festival, such as: experiencing Korean baseball, a Vietnamese-Korean cooking competition, a Vietnamese-Korean talent competition, and demonstrations of Taekwondo and Vovinam martial arts...

In addition, the performing arts troupes presented performances that blended traditional and modern elements, creating a vibrant and captivating atmosphere.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Chang Ho-seung, Counselor and Consul General of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam, said that Vietnam is the ASEAN country most visited by Koreans, and currently, about 500,000 Koreans and approximately 100,000 multicultural families living in both countries have become a strong bridge between the two nations.

Da Nang, one of the most popular cities among Koreans, is an important cooperation center, attracting many Koreans who visit and participate in various activities.

The opening ceremony featured many meaningful performances, clearly showcasing the value of cultural exchange between South Korea and Vietnam.

In 2024, approximately 1.8 million South Korean tourists visited the city – accounting for 40% of the total international visitors – and the number of South Korean tourists visiting Da Nang is expected to continue to increase steadily in 2025.

Besides tourism, Korean businesses are also actively investing in the city, with 335 projects and a total capital of approximately $2.2 billion by the end of 2024.

“Da Nang is expected to become a key growth engine for Vietnam in many areas such as economy, trade, logistics, and tourism. I hope that cooperation between Da Nang City and the local government of South Korea will become even more vibrant in the future,” said Mr. Chang Ho-seung.

Mr. Chang Ho-seung also stated that the Korean Embassy in Vietnam and the Korean Consulate General in Da Nang will continue to provide full support to ensure that friendly cooperation between the local governments of the two countries becomes an even more solid foundation for the development of Korea-Vietnam cooperation.
