Change your electricity usage habits.

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - June is usually the peak of the hot season every year. This year, the northern region has experienced three intense and prolonged heatwaves across a wide area, with temperatures sometimes exceeding 40°C. These extreme weather conditions not only significantly affect daily life but also cause a sudden surge in electricity demand, especially for household use, leading to sharp increases in electricity bills for many families, raising concerns and questions among the public.

Change your electricity usage habits.

The family of customer Nguyen Thi Hoa checks their monthly electricity consumption on the customer care software of the Northern Power Corporation.

According to the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC), in June 2025, commercial electricity output in 27 northern provinces and cities (excluding Hanoi ) reached 9.85 billion kWh - the highest level among EVN's distribution corporations. Notably, on June 2nd, electricity consumption set a record with 373.6 million kWh in a single day.

Thanh Hoa province is no exception. According to Thanh Hoa Power Company, the record electricity consumption was reached at 10:30 PM on June 2, 2025, with the province's total electricity usage peaking at 1,597.5 MW; commercial electricity output in June was 866.179 million kWh, a 15.1% increase compared to the same period last year and an 11.46% increase compared to May 2025. The cumulative output for the first six months was 4,200.9 million kWh, an 11.26% increase compared to the same period last year.

Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Power Company, Hoang Duc Hau, recommended: “The company hopes to receive the cooperation, sharing, and understanding of our valued customers in using electricity safely, economically, and efficiently, for the benefit of both families and the nation. For any questions, please contact the Northern Power Customer Care Hotline at 19006769 for verification and answers from the power sector.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, residing at 359 Trinh Tung Street, Hac Thanh Ward, whose electricity bill in June was higher than in May 2025, stated: "Thanks to the electricity sector's awareness campaigns and guidance, especially during the hot summer months, our family has always been conscious of using electricity safely, economically, and efficiently. In June, our electricity bill was 1.5 million VND, compared to 1.1 million VND in May. The main reason for the higher bill in June was the prolonged hot weather, our children and grandchildren visiting their grandparents for summer vacation, the installation of a new air conditioner, and the increased and continuous use of other electrical appliances such as the TV, refrigerator, and stove. We find this perfectly normal and consistent with our family's electricity needs."

To proactively control electricity bills and use electricity economically, rationally, and efficiently during the hot season, Thanh Hoa Power Company advises customers: Set air conditioners to 26-28 degrees Celsius, combine with the use of fans, and keep doors closed to prevent heat loss; limit the simultaneous use of multiple high-power electrical appliances between 1 PM and 3 PM and 8 PM and 11 PM on hot days; turn off appliances when not in use, utilize natural light during the day, choose energy-saving electrical appliances, and perform annual maintenance to maintain operational efficiency. In the long term, the company encourages households and businesses with suitable conditions to consider installing rooftop solar power systems for self-production and self-consumption, contributing to reducing electricity costs and ensuring environmental emissions.

Mr. Le Anh Vu, Deputy Head of the Hac Thanh Area Electricity Management Team, Thanh Hoa Power Company, said: Along with advising customers to use electricity safely, economically, and efficiently, Thanh Hoa Power Company has been proactively implementing many comprehensive solutions to ensure safe and stable electricity supply, especially to cope with the risk of grid overload.
