Ninh Hoa town organizes the exhumation and collection of 2 martyrs' remains

On May 31, at Ninh Hoa - Van Ninh Martyrs Cemetery, the Town Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Hoa town held a memorial service and buried the remains of two martyrs who died in the resistance war against the US.

Delegates observed a moment of silence to commemorate the martyrs.

Previously, through many efforts to deploy verification and search measures, the Military Command and functional agencies of Ninh Hoa town identified two earthen graves on Ro Tuong Pass (in Phu Huu village, Ninh Ich commune) as the graves of martyrs who died in the resistance war against the US. They are martyr Nguyen Khac Dau (born in 1953, hometown Van Thien commune, Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province; died on April 5, 1975) and martyr Kha Van Phong (born in 1953, hometown Mac village, Thach Giam commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province; died on April 5, 1975).

Delegations laid wreaths to pay their respects to the martyrs.

On that basis, on May 29, Steering Committee 24 (Steering Committee for implementing policies for frontline laborers participating in the resistance war against France, against the US, the war to protect the Fatherland and perform international duties) of Ninh Hoa town organized the exhumation of the remains of martyrs. After completing the exhumation, the forces brought the remains of 2 martyrs to the Memorial House at Ninh Hoa - Van Ninh Martyrs Cemetery to continue coordinating with the authorities to carry out related processes and procedures and organize the memorial and burial ceremony.

The forces proceeded to exhume the remains of martyrs.

The remains of the martyrs were buried at Ninh Hoa - Van Ninh Martyrs Cemetery.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Tran - Political Commissar of the Ninh Hoa Town Military Command, because the identities of the two martyrs' remains have not yet been determined, after the exhumation, the unit coordinated with the Town's Internal Affairs Department to collect samples from the two martyrs' remains and from the martyrs' family members to send to higher authorities for DNA testing. After receiving the results, the Town's 24 Steering Committee will coordinate with the Town's Internal Affairs Department to organize the exhumation of the two martyrs' remains to bring them back to their hometowns for burial according to the wishes of the families.
