It is currently the time of changing seasons, extreme and unusual weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, hail, and lightning are very likely to occur, directly affecting people and property, so people need to proactively monitor weather developments to promptly prevent and minimize damage.

According to the report of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, due to the influence of the high-altitude wind convergence zone, from the night of April 20 to the morning of April 21, 2025, rain and thunderstorms occurred in some places in the province. According to rainfall monitoring at some stations, 28 stations had light rainfall, 6 stations had moderate rainfall (from 16 - 37.6 mm). According to a quick report from Muong Khuong district, 9 houses of 9 households had their roofs blown off, with damage of less than 30%, including 8 households in Nam Lu commune and 1 household in Lung Khau Nhin commune. In addition, 1 household in Lung Khau Nhin commune had its auxiliary structure damaged (completely blown off the kitchen roof). The total estimated damage was 45 million VND.

The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Muong Khuong district has directed specialized agencies and People's Committees of communes and towns to organize inspections, count the damage, and direct local forces to help families whose houses were damaged in cleaning, sanitizing, reinforcing, and re-roofing, expected to be completed on May 21, 2025.

Earlier, in the early morning of April 13, widespread thunderstorms also occurred in the province, causing damage to houses and agricultural crops in Muong Khuong, Bao Yen and Bac Ha districts. The total damage to houses, irrigation works and agricultural crops was estimated at over 265 million VND.

Currently, for the direction and response work, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has transferred warning bulletins from the Central Government and the Provincial Hydrometeorological Station to the on-duty staff of districts, towns, and cities to warn and urge communes, wards, and towns to proactively prevent.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment requested the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of districts, towns and cities to direct communes, wards and towns to strengthen the direction of people to tie, support and reinforce houses; cut down trees that are at risk of causing damage to houses and roads to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.

In addition, it is recommended to organize a 24/7 duty; regularly monitor and grasp the weather situation to warn people and prevent. Warn and instruct people to absolutely not stay overnight in the fields, not to do outdoor activities when there are thunderstorms, hail, lightning. Update and report damage to the Department of Agriculture and Environment promptly, in accordance with regulations.
