Rainfall recorded from 7:00 p.m. on August 20 to 3:00 a.m. on August 21 exceeded 60 mm in some places, specifically: Tan Lap station (Tuyen Quang) 116.6 mm, Phu Thong station ( Thai Nguyen ) 61.2 mm, Binh Thang station (HCMC) 102.2 mm.
According to the forecast, this afternoon and tonight (August 21), the mountainous areas of the North will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms; some places are likely to have very heavy rain with common amounts of 20-40 mm, locally over 100 mm.
Other areas in the North, Thanh Hoa , South Central Coast, Central Highlands and South also have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain of 15-30 mm, in some places it can be over 80 mm.
Notably, rainfall is likely to reach high intensity of over 80 mm/3 hours. During thunderstorms, there is a high risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain can cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, as well as flooding in low-lying areas.
