* A letter from a patient from Phu Tho province, sent through the Health and Life Newspaper, expresses gratitude and admiration, and congratulates Dr. Nguyen Van Thang - the surgeon who performed the operation - and all the doctors, nurses, and medical staff of the Thoracic Surgery Department at K Hospital, Tan Trieu branch. The Health and Life Newspaper respectfully publishes this letter on the occasion of Vietnamese Doctors' Day, February 27th.

In everyone's life, there are moments when we are forced to confront the abyss of despair. For those suffering from cancer, the moment they receive the diagnosis feels like a complete collapse.

But it was at that very point, on the brink of life and death, at K Hospital, that I found the "saviors" in white coats. These are the silent warriors, those who are using their hearts and dedication to continue writing the story of hope for countless lives teetering on the brink of death.

Doctors at K Hospital are performing a surgery.

Surgeons, with their miraculous hands, have been quietly keeping the rhythm of life alive. Each surgery is a fierce battle of wits with death. The weight on their shoulders is immense as they strain themselves in complex invasive procedures, where a small mistake can change a person's fate. Yet, under the bright operating lights, surgeons appear as courageous warriors.

I understand the weight of intense concentration for hours on end. While the patient is fast asleep under anesthesia, on the other side, the doctors must be on edge, precise to the millimeter. Those hands not only hold scalpels, but also cherish the most fragile hopes of the patient and their family. This sacrifice of physical and intellectual effort is something that no words can fully describe.

What touched me most was not just the brilliant medical skills, but the radiant hearts of the doctors. Cancer not only ravages the body but also destroys the spirit. The doctors at K Hospital healed patients with profound empathy. Behind the surgical incisions were compassionate hearts, from reassuring words before surgery to the meticulous application of the most advanced techniques such as laparoscopic surgery and cosmetic surgery... all stemming from love for humanity. The doctors not only wanted patients to live, but also wanted them to live a full, confident, and happy life. That is the most beautiful form of kindness, the kindness of those who give without expecting anything in return.

Behind the silent sacrifices, the glitz and glamour, the successful surgeries, and the happy smiles of patients on their discharge days, lie the hidden corners and private struggles of doctors that few know about. These include sleepless nights spent intently monitoring each fragile breath, the exhaustion after long shifts, the heavy footsteps returning home after the city has fallen asleep, the cold meals silently awaiting the sound of familiar footsteps, and the personal anxieties of having to accept being away from family and children during the most important moments of their lives.

Doctors have chosen to set aside personal pleasures in exchange for saving the lives of thousands of strangers. For them, the most invaluable reward is not fame or material possessions, but the grateful glances and smiles of patients who have overcome the brink of death.

That silent, noble sacrifice is like flowers blooming in the night, quiet yet incredibly noble, unpretentious, yet the fragrance of compassion and dedication spreads powerfully, enhancing the noble dignity of doctors in life. I express my gratitude to these silent warriors in white coats, those who ignite hope and spread compassion. Thank you to the doctors who have not given up, who are still diligently working every day to write new chapters in the lives of each patient. Thank you to the doctors who have kept the Hippocratic Oath; doctors are the most vivid proof of the principle "A good doctor must be like a loving mother," and they are the source of my belief in miracles in everyday life.
