Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong, Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), said that after learning about the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar, and drawing on experience from earthquake rescue operations in Türkiye in 2023, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force clearly understood that this was a disaster of exceptionally serious nature.

"Upon receiving orders from the Ministry's leadership, I held meetings and discussions with relevant units to prepare forces and equipment. The team consists of 26 people, all highly qualified officers and soldiers, ready to respond to any emergency situation in the earthquake-affected area," Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong affirmed.

The Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department added that the team is expected to carry out its mission for 10 days, as international practice dictates that search and rescue operations typically take place within this timeframe.

Also at the send-off ceremony, Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Public Security, stated that this is not the first time the Ministry of Public Security has sent forces to assist other countries in dealing with natural disasters.

"In 2023, the Ministry sent a delegation to Türkiye, despite being very far from Vietnamese territory, to participate in and support search and rescue efforts after the earthquake disaster. This left a positive impression on the Turkish people and international friends, and also awakened national pride among the Vietnamese people," Deputy Minister Tuyen emphasized.

Prior to the trip, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen requested the working group to proactively and thoroughly inspect the specialized vehicles, military equipment, and support machinery provided by the units, ensuring that all essential needs are met and that their functionality and effectiveness in search and rescue operations, as well as in daily life, are maximized. At the same time, the group must ensure absolute safety and health in all situations, striving and making every effort, regardless of difficulties and dangers, to actively coordinate with other forces during the search and rescue process.

"The officers and soldiers in the delegation maintained proper etiquette and conduct, upholding discipline, solidarity, mutual support, and demonstrating the courage and qualities of Vietnamese People's Public Security officers. With the spirit of helping others as if helping ourselves, they conveyed a message about Vietnam and its people being friendly, compassionate, loyal, and united," Deputy Minister Tuyen emphasized.
