According to the results announced by the Mongolian Parliament , Mr. Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene did not receive the 64 votes of confidence needed to continue in office. Of the 82 MPs who participated in the secret ballot, only 44 voted in favor of Mr. Oyun-Erdene. The Mongolian Parliament also stated that Mr. Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene will continue to serve as interim Prime Minister until a successor is appointed within 30 days.
AFP news agency reported that the vote took place after several days of protests in the capital Ulan Bator against corruption in the country. This is the first time a Mongolian prime minister has been asked to submit a vote of confidence in his government.
