On January 21st, the Director General of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Nguyen Trung Khanh, held a meeting with Golfasian's CEO and founder, Mark Siegel, and Golfasian Vietnam's Director, Ta Vu Huong, to discuss potential cooperation in developing golf tourism.

There is still much room for improvement.

At the meeting, the Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Nguyen Trung Khanh, affirmed that Vietnam is a potential destination for tourism in general and golf tourism in particular. He also expressed interest in solutions to further develop this type of tourism. Golf tourism has been identified as one of the priority products of Vietnam's tourism industry.

Sharing his perspective on the overall picture of Vietnamese tourism, the Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Nguyen Trung Khanh, stated: "In 2025, Vietnam is expected to welcome nearly 21.2 million international visitors, a 20.4% increase compared to 2024. Alongside this, we will serve approximately 137 million domestic tourists. Total tourism revenue is projected to reach nearly 40 billion USD. Notably, the number of golf tourists visiting Vietnam is growing rapidly, doubling annually on average. This indicates significant potential for the development of golf tourism in the future."

Director Nguyen Trung Khanh expressed his support for businesses, golf courses, and travel agencies participating in specialized international trade fairs and exhibitions. He also suggested that both sides continue to exchange more specific information on the content and methods of coordinating and implementing effective promotional activities.

Mr. Nguyen Quy Phuong, Head of the International Relations and Tourism Promotion Department (Vietnam National Tourism Administration), highly appreciated Golfasian's choice of Vietnam as a key market for golf tourism development, especially in the long-haul segment. This is a market with enormous potential for Vietnamese tourism.

In the coming period, both sides need to exchange views to review the difficulties and obstacles in attracting golf tourists to Vietnam. Simultaneously, they should discuss in more detail the quality of services, tourism infrastructure, and the connectivity between destinations, golf courses, hotels, and airlines. Besides traditional markets, Vietnam will also focus on key golf tourism markets such as North America, Western Europe, Northeast Asia (South Korea, Japan), and ASEAN.

Potential partners for Vietnamese tourism

Golfasian's CEO and founder, Mark Siegel, stated that Golfasian is one of the largest international golf travel companies, with 28 years of experience operating in long-haul markets. Golfasian focuses on targeting customers with longer stays and higher spending power, primarily from Europe, Australia, and the United States.

Assessing Vietnam as a country with great potential for golf tourism development, Golfasian CEO and founder Mark Siegel commented: "Vietnam's advantage lies in its geographical location, diverse topography, and especially its long coastline, which is very suitable for developing high-quality golf courses associated with resorts."

Currently, Golfasian has two representative offices in Hanoi and Da Nang to promote golf tourism to Vietnam. Over the past 12 months, Golfasian has brought approximately 5,400 golf tourists to Vietnam. This number is projected to continue increasing significantly over the next five years as Vietnam develops more golf courses and new destinations.

Golfasian CEO and founder Mark Siegel expressed his desire for support from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration to jointly promote the growth of international golf tourists visiting Vietnam, through enhanced marketing and promotion efforts.

According to Mark Siegel, promoting Vietnamese golf tourism could be done through several golf and hotel magazines published periodically by Golfasian. The company will also collaborate in participating in golf trade fairs and exhibitions in Thailand, the United States, and Europe.

In terms of market strategy, Golfasian aims to expand its operations in the northern region, such as Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay – areas with great development potential. Along with this, it will target seasonal tourist flows to enable year-round golf tourism in Vietnam.

"With its strengths in the long-haul market, Golfasian is ready to share its experience, market data, customer network, and international partners. At the same time, we will cooperate with the Vietnam National Tourism Administration to participate in specialized golf fairs and exhibitions," added Ta Vu Huong, Director of Golfasian Vietnam.

The Vietnam World Masters tournament, organized annually by Golfasian in September in Da Nang, is known to attract a large number of international golfers. Golfasian hopes that this year's tournament will receive additional support and connections with partners, travel agencies, hotels, and airlines to enhance exchange and cooperation in activities related to golf tourism.

Appreciating Golfasian's proposals, the Director General of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Nguyen Trung Khanh, stated: The Vietnam National Tourism Administration will act as a bridge connecting Golfasian with localities, businesses, and golf courses nationwide, as well as coordinating promotion and advertising at international events. Through this, they will jointly build and develop golf tourism products, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position on the regional and global golf tourism map.
